Help Build the Grid of the Future
Join AEP's Transmission Line Engineering team and play a key role in designing and delivering the infrastructure that powers millions of homes and businesses. This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact transmission projects while developing expertise in structural, geotechnical, and transmission line engineering.
What You'll Do
- Plan and scope transmission line projects
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Select and evaluate transmission structure types
- Review geotechnical reports and foundation recommendations
- Design transmission structure foundations
- Perform conductor tension, sag, and clearance evaluations
- Develop transmission line designs using PLS-CADD
- Support project scheduling, cost estimating, and project execution

Note: This position is posted at multiple grade levels and offers a range of opportunities for advancement. The minimum qualifications outlined below apply to the Engineer Associate level, with increased educational, skill, experience and certification requirements for higher level Engineers.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline in a program accredited by ABET*
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interest in structural, geotechnical, or utility infrastructure design
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- EIT certification or progress toward licensure preferred
Candidates with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
Acceptable alternative is:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
**VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a Non-ABET accredited program

$74,551.00 - $128,688.00
