About this role

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the F&B Manager, the Bartender provides knowledgeable, prompt, friendly and courteous service of food and beverage to our hotel and casino guests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist all Food & Beverage team members to run operations to produce smooth and efficient standards of customer service.

- Responsible for prompt, efficient and courteous customer service to all casino guests in accordance with the departments standards.

- Must be able to demonstrate and maintain service-level standards.

- Take food and beverage orders from guests.

- Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters to prepare cocktails and other drinks.

- Prepare alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages using standard recipes and practicing portion control.

- Serve wine and draught or bottled beer.

- Deliver food from the kitchen to guests.

- Observe bar guests to respond to any additional requests and to determine when a meal has been completed.

- Always maintain cleanliness of guest areas and bars to include removing empty glasses/bottles.

- Responsible for receiving payment from customers in a prompt and courteous manner.

- Abides by all State, Federal and Company liquor regulations pertaining to alcoholic beverage service and intoxicated guests.

- Responsible for adhering to established cash control policies and procedures.

- Must be able to multitask in a busy environment.

- Open to new challenges and tasks on a daily basis.

- Must be able to follow all standards for health and safety protocols.

- Must keep all service areas stocked with necessary supplies.

- Must be able to work all shifts and holidays.

- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma or GED preferred.

- Must have 1 to 2 years Bartending experience, including at least 6 months experience as a Barback (preferred).

- Must comply with state liquor laws by verifying age to ensure legal drinking age.

- Ability to monitor alcohol consumption.

- Ability to measure, memorize, prepare cocktails or mixed drinks

- Knowledge of different varieties of beer/wine and upselling premium liquors.

- Must be flexible and willing to work in several areas of the operation as needed, and other assigned work locations.

- Excellent customer service skills.

- Must be able to stand for an entire 8-hour shift.

- Must be able to carry out tasks with limited supervision.

- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.

- Have a professional appearance.

- Must be able to do the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Must be able to smile at all times while on casino property, and able to promote a positive professional attitude.

- At least 21 years of age.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to be flexible in adapting to changing demands and volumes of work. Work environment requires significant standing, bending, kneeling, lifting and reaching. Non-slip shoes required. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and required to move about he Casino floor and exposed to a non-smoke free environment.

Cahuilla Casino Hotel is committed to a drug and alcohol free workplace. Any job offer is conditional upon successful passing of a pre-employment drug test and must qualify for a Cahuilla Gaming License, which includes an extensive background security check.

If none of the applicants should meet the stated qualifications, applicants whose education and experience are less than the stated requirements, may be interviewed and hired provided the applicant hired submits a formal written training plan within (30) thirty days which can be completed within a reasonable time agreed upon by the supervisor and the applicant. Applicants who are hired and fail to meet the agreed upon formal training program, will be discharged upon failure to complete the specified training as so scheduled.

A drug test will be required prior to employment and periodically thereafter.
