Position Summary

Deaconess Illinois is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Lead, Biomedical Equipment Services to provide technical leadership and day-to-day support for our Biomedical Equipment Services team. This position will help ensure medical equipment is safe, reliable, properly maintained, and available to support high-quality patient care.

The Team Lead will provide guidance to biomedical equipment technicians, coordinate daily assignments and workload, assist with troubleshooting and repairs, and serve as a resource for clinical and operational departments.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and support to Biomedical Equipment Services staff.

- Coordinate preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspections, and equipment service activities.

- Assign and prioritize work based on patient-care needs, equipment criticality, and departmental priorities.

- Troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain a variety of medical equipment and systems.

- Assist technicians with complex equipment issues and provide technical guidance when needed.

- Ensure biomedical equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, hospital policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

- Review service documentation and ensure accurate and timely completion of work orders.

- Assist with equipment inspections, acceptance testing, inventory management, and equipment lifecycle activities.

- Collaborate with nursing, clinical engineering, facilities, IT, vendors, and other departments to resolve equipment-related issues.

- Help maintain compliance with applicable healthcare standards, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations.

- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, department processes, and service response times.

- Assist with training, onboarding, mentoring, and development of Biomedical Equipment Services staff.

- Participate in departmental projects, equipment evaluations, and new technology implementations.

- Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and excellent customer service.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

- Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Experience servicing and maintaining biomedical/medical equipment in a healthcare environment.

- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or computer-based medical equipment.

- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to work effectively with clinical staff, leadership, vendors, and members of the Biomedical Equipment Services team.

- Ability to prioritize multiple requests and respond appropriately to equipment issues affecting patient care.

Preferred:

- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Engineering, or a related field.

- Previous lead, senior technician, or supervisory experience.

- CBET certification or other applicable professional certification.

- Experience with hospital medical equipment management systems and computerized maintenance management systems.

- Experience working with regulatory, accreditation, and medical equipment safety requirements.

Compensation:

Pay rate: $27.00 - $54.00
