About the Role
HJ Staffing is seeking a registered Pharmacy Technician for a contract assignment in Austin Hospital. You'll be a key part of the pharmacy team, keeping medications organized, accurate, and moving to the patients who need them.
What You'll Do
- Manage pharmacy inventory
- Prepare medications for the pharmacist's final check
- Deliver medications to patient care areas
- Conduct medication area inspections
- Provide technical assistance and perform clerical duties
- Guide others as needed
- Work under limited supervision, using initiative and independent judgment within Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) boundaries
- Follow all professional, legal, and ethical standards, plus hospital, HHSC, and TSBP policies and procedures
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, either 7:30am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:30pm (confirm the second shift)
- No 12-hour shifts
- Required: 9 consecutive days of training, Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm, before starting. This is non-negotiable.
- Overtime is not available beyond 40 hours/week unless approved and scheduled by the facility.
- Time-off requests are generally not approved at this time (can be discussed).
Requirements
- Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Experience in pharmaceutical assistance work
- Must maintain a current TSBP license at all times. A lapse means suspension of services until it's renewed.
- Valid photo ID
- Negative PPD (TB) result within the last 12 months
- Ability to pass a urine drug screen and background check
- Ability to pass an FBI fingerprint background check (provided by the facility)
- Willingness to follow agency leave policy and HHSC and facility rules
Preferred
- Pyxis MedStation experience
- Experience with medication room inspections
- Experience with manual and automated medication repackaging
- Negative COVID-19 test prior to starting (the facility provides testing, but it is not required)
