VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: EQUIPMENT INSPECTOR

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor , this role plays a crucial part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of mobile and fixed mining equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections, identifying defects, and supporting maintenance teams with accurate technical reporting and condition assessments.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following :
- Conduct routine, scheduled, statutory and ad-hoc inspections on mining equipment (mobile and fixed plant).
- Identify equipment defects, wear, performance deviations, and potential failures.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and ensure accurate data entry into SAP.
- Immediately escalate critical defects to supervisors and maintenance planners.
- Verify the quality of repairs and confirm compliance with maintenance standards.
- Participate in failure investigations and provide technical feedback.
- Support asset integrity programs, shutdowns, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Ensure inspections comply with mine safety regulations, OEM standards, and company procedures.
- Assist in updating inspection checklists, standards, and procedures
- Analyse equipment performance to identify opportunities to improve and maximise the performance of the assets.
- Ensure that maintenance activities are managed efficiently with a view to cost and production, and in accordance with sound work management procedures.
- Cooperate with the maintenance planners regarding input schedules and accurate information.
- Carry out structured routine safety inspections in cooperation with field maintenance staff.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
- Minimum Craft Certificate in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or equivalent.
- Significant 2 years’ experience in Heavy Earthmoving Equipment maintenance.
- Familiar with the use of CMMS (e.g. SAP ) and Microsoft office suite application.
- Excellent attention to detail and technical reporting skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with maintenance, operations, and reliability teams.
- Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
- Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license will be an added advantage.
