POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Technology Intern will support the implementation, utilization, and continuous improvement of technology solutions across construction operations. This role provides hands-on exposure to construction software, field technology, surveying equipment, machine control systems, drones, GIS mapping, and data analytics tools that improve project performance and operational efficiency.
The intern will work closely with field operations, project management, engineering, and technology teams to gain practical experience applying innovative technology solutions to real-world construction projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Construction Technology Support
- Assist with implementation and support of construction technology platforms across field and office operations.
- Support adoption of construction technology tools through training and field coaching.
- Document technology processes, workflows, and best practices.
Field Technology & Machine Control
- Support GPS machine control operations and data management.
- Assist with site layout activities using GPS and surveying equipment.
- Help collect, organize, and validate field data.
- Participate in machine control file preparation and quality reviews.
Drone & Reality Capture
- Assist with drone flight planning, data collection, and processing.
- Support aerial mapping, progress tracking, and site documentation efforts.
- Help create project visualizations, Ortho mosaics, and progress reports.
Data & Analytics
- Gather and organize project performance data.
- Assist with dashboards, reporting, and data visualization tools.
- Support analysis of operational metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Help ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems.
Project & Operational Support
- Collaborate with project managers, field engineers, superintendents, and operations leaders.
- Attend project meetings and technology demonstrations.
- Support special projects assigned by the Construction Technology team.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum of 2 years of education working toward completion of a bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline from a four-year college or university.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- At least one summer of construction work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and leadership.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, and mean, median, and averages.
- Ability to maintain compliance with all Veit policies and procedures.
- Ability to respond to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.

Additional functions include: stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods of time; use a computer/laptop in an office environment with natural and/or fluorescent lighting (50%+); navigate between office building floors; regularly attend off-site meetings or events; and lift to 35 lbs. unassisted.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Most work occurs in a typical office environment; however, occasional job-site travel may be required. The employee frequently works both independently and with others. Jobsite visits may involve walking on uneven terrain, navigating stairs or ladders, and exposure to variable weather, noise, dust, and moving equipment. During jobsite visits, the employee must wear required PPE as directed, including a hard hat, safety glasses, a high-visibility vest, gloves, hearing protection, and safety-toe footwear. The employee may occasionally encounter high noise levels at job sites, but hearing protection is provided and required.
