Job Description:
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Administrative and Operations Intern position for Recreational Sports and Student Experiences & Engagement at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Student Administrative and Operations Intern supports the administrative functions of Recreational Sports and Student Experiences & Engagement while gaining hands-on experience in higher education administration. This position provides project, operational, and executive support through research, communications, scheduling, data collection, documentation, process improvement, and event coordination.
The internship is designed to develop professional competencies in communication, project management, assessment, organizational leadership, collaboration, and business operations. Working under the guidance of professional staff, the intern assists with implementing initiatives, supporting department operations, and improving processes that enhance the student and staff experience.
Position Duties:
- Draft agendas, meeting notes, and background materials for review by professional staff.
- Assist with calendar coordination, meeting scheduling, and logistics for leadership team.
- Prepare presentation materials, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Organize digital files, records, and shared resources.
- Coordinate day of logistics for advisory boards, staff meetings, retreats, and special events.
- Track project timelines, action items, follow-up tasks, professional staff certifications, and Flexible Work Agreements.
- Maintain confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Evaluate administrative processes and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Document workflows, procedures, and operational practices.
- Support operational projects identified by department leadership.
- Collect and organize data for departmental reports and assessments.
- Conduct research on higher education and recreation industry trends.
- Assist with surveys, benchmarking projects, and environmental scans.
- Develop summaries and visual reports that help inform departmental planning.

Qualifications:

- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
- Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
- Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
- Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
- Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Required Qualifications:
- First Aid, CPR/AED Certification and DRS Bloodborne Pathogen Certifications is required before employment begins.
