Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Temporary Works Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this temporary position, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing temporary structural systems and works on construction projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work efficiently within project timelines while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

- Review temporary works designs, calculations, drawings, method statements, and risk assessments for formwork, falsework, shoring, propping, scaffolding/access systems, working platforms, excavation support, and other concrete-related temporary works.
- Verify temporary works are appropriately designed for construction loads, concrete pressure, stability, sequencing, and site conditions.
- Review and monitor temporary works associated with foundations, pile caps, raft foundations, retaining walls, columns, walls, beams, slabs, and other structural concrete elements.
- Coordinate temporary works requirements with structural, civil, architectural, HSE, and construction teams.
- Conduct site inspections to verify installation is in accordance with approved temporary works designs and identify deviations requiring corrective action.
- Verify readiness of formwork, falsework, shoring, and supports before concrete placement.
- Monitor safe erection, modification, loading, striking, dismantling, and removal of temporary works.
- Review Contractor submissions and provide technical comments/recommendations within the Engineer's contractual authority.
- Maintain temporary works registers and support the management of design approvals, inspections, permits, hold/witness points, and close-out records.
- Ensure temporary works activities comply with the project's quality and HSE requirements and relevant codes and standards.
- Immediately escalate unsafe conditions, unauthorized modifications, design discrepancies, or temporary works that could affect structural integrity or construction safety.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in civil/Structural Engineering, with relevant experience in temporary works and major reinforced-concrete construction, including both substructure and superstructure works.
- Proven 10 years of experience in temporary works engineering or temporary structures design on construction projects
- Strong knowledge of formwork systems, scaffolding, shoring, and propping methodologies
- Proficiency with CAD software and structural analysis tools
- Solid understanding of construction methodology and site coordination practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Knowledge of relevant construction standards and safety regulations
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently within project deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration
- Experience working on construction projects in the Middle East region (preferred)
- Relevant engineering certifications or professional qualifications (preferred)
- Familiarity with Saudi Arabian construction codes and regulations (preferred)
