About this role

This is a full-time job (benefits, pto, OT pay, etc.) at a DoD client located in Syracuse, NY. Position is fully onsite, but work schedule is 4/10s (off every Friday). Job Description This role focuses on integrating, testing, and administering Linux-based systems for mission-critical programs. You will apply your systems engineering and Linux expertise to support operating system configuration and hardening, ensure cybersecurity compliance, and contribute to the reliability and performance of complex technical solutions. Responsibilities

- Support integration and test activities for mission-critical systems with a strong emphasis on Linux-based environments.
- Perform operating system administration, configuration, and hardening on RHEL 8 and RHEL 9 platforms.
- Manage Linux packages, including installation, updates, and maintenance using RHEL package management tools.
- Contribute to cybersecurity compliance efforts, including implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) when applicable.
- Assist with vulnerability assessment activities by using or interpreting results from cybersecurity scanning tools.
- Review and interpret static code analysis reports, such as Fortify findings, to support software quality and security improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams involved in integration, testing, and software development to resolve system issues and improve system performance.
- Work independently on assigned tasks, managing priorities and delivering high-quality results within established schedules.
- Support radar-related systems and integration activities when required, leveraging any prior radar experience.
- Maintain eligibility to work on programs requiring a Secret Security Clearance and follow all security policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

- At least 2 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (I&T), Linux Administration, or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 and/or RHEL 9.
- Proficiency in operating system administration, configuration, and hardening for Linux environments.
- Experience with Linux package management on RHEL-based systems.
- Ability to work independently on assigned technical tasks and deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Cybersecurity experience, including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning and cyber scan tools is a strong plus.
- Experience reviewing Fortify or other static code analysis results is a plus.
- Radar systems experience is a significant advantage.
- Comfort working in environments that emphasize both software and Linux systems integration and cybersecurity compliance.

Work Environment You will work in a technical environment focused on Linux-based, mission-critical systems, primarily using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 and 9. The role involves close collaboration with integration, test, software, and cybersecurity teams, as well as independent work on assigned tasks. You can expect to use tools and processes related to operating system administration, package management, STIG implementation, vulnerability scanning, and static code analysis. Work is performed in a secure setting that supports projects requiring a Secret Security Clearance, with adherence to established security, configuration management, and testing practices

This is a Contract position based out of Liverpool, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
