About this role

The Opportunity
Join our Moorebank team supporting Australia's Defence Force through the Defence Maintenance Contract (DMC). As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic , you will carry out maintenance, servicing, repair and overhaul activities on a diverse fleet of Defence vehicles to support operational readiness.

Working within a collaborative maintenance team, you'll undertake inspections, diagnostics and repair work on military vehicles, including 4WDs, trucks, armoured vehicles, tracked vehicles and infantry personnel carriers, while delivering high-quality outcomes in line with Defence, safety and manufacturer standards.

Key Accountabilities

- Conduct scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across a range of Defence vehicles and equipment.
- Remove, overhaul, repair and refit major assemblies, including engines, transmissions and differentials.
- Service, tune and test diesel, petrol and gas-powered vehicles.
- Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced components.
- Complete maintenance activities in accordance with Defence, safety and manufacturer standards.
- Complete maintenance documentation and relevant data entry requirements.
- Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment.

About You

- Hold a Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent trade qualification.
- Hold a current HR or HC Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining, servicing, diagnosing, fault-finding and repairing heavy vehicles, mobile plant or similar equipment.
- Experience working on diesel engines, transmissions and driveline components.
- Hydraulics experience and/or relevant certifications will be highly regarded.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively use proprietary software and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- A positive, team-focused approach and commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture.

You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
