About this role
Description
Are you passionate about building data platforms that power decisions at massive scale? Amazon's Selling Partner Insights and Analytics (SPIA) team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to architect and evolve the data infrastructure behind Paragon, a platform that processes over 500 million cases annually and serves 200+ teams and 70,000+ users across Selling Partner Services.
This is a technical leadership role where you will shape how data is modeled, accessed, and trusted across the organization. With access to vast datasets and a growing focus on agentic AI, you will design the data foundations that enable the next generation of intelligent automation — directly influencing customer experience and operational outcomes across Amazon's global e-commerce ecosystem.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and operate scalable, cost-effective data pipelines and infrastructure on AWS, curating data for reporting, analytics, and machine learning models.
- Define logical data models and architectures that support worldwide growth, anticipating data access patterns and removing bottlenecks before they impact customers.
- Lead design reviews and collaborate with directors, VPs, and cross-functional partners to align data architecture with business strategy and long-term technical direction.
- Establish and maintain data engineering standards for data modeling, lineage, governance, and operational reliability that ensure consistency and quality across systems.
- Coach and mentor other data engineers, contributing to their professional development while strengthening the team's overall technical capabilities.
A day in the life
You will split your time between hands-on engineering and technical leadership. Mornings might involve reviewing pipeline health dashboards, triaging data quality issues, or pairing with a teammate on a complex ETL problem. Afternoons often shift toward design discussions with partner teams, reviewing architecture proposals, or presenting data strategy updates to senior leadership. You will regularly evaluate how your team's data solutions can evolve to support agentic AI workloads, making architectural recommendations that shape the team's roadmap.
About the team
SPIA's mission is to shorten the path from data to insight for 200+ internal customer teams across Selling Partner Support, helping them move faster and act with more confidence. We are building the data foundation for both current analytical needs and tomorrow's AI-powered experiences. The datasets, models, and pipelines we build shape decisions that touch millions of customers and sellers every day. This role offers a clear growth path: you will act as a team lead, engage with senior leadership, and help design the transition of our data platform into the agentic AI era.
