Blue Badge Assessment Officer (INTERNAL)

We're looking for a empathetic and detail-oriented Blue Badge Assessment Officer to ensure applicants receive a fair assessment to determine eligibility for a Blue Badge.

The Blue Badge Service assesses applications and supporting evidence to determine eligibility for a Blue Badge, considering mobility difficulties and non-visible disabilities in line with Department for Transport guidance.

The Blue Badge Assessment Officer carries out independent assessments where eligibility cannot be confirmed from documentary evidence alone. Working with Blue Badge Issuing Officers, health and social care professionals, and the public, they use professional judgement and clinical expertise to make evidence-based decisions. This role requires strong communication, analytical and decision-making skills. Assessments are conducted through desk-based reviews, telephone consultations and face-to-face appointments, ensuring decisions are fair, proportionate and consistent with legislation and guidance.

We are looking for candidates who meet the following

- Qualified, registered Health Professional e.g. Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- RQF level 6 qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or Nursing
- Able to undertake mobility and mental health assessments
- Able to interpret guidance and legislation
- Experience working within a health and / or social care setting
- Holds a full driving licence or able to demonstrate how travel requirements of the role can be met

Working within a supportive and knowledgeable team, you will use your clinical judgement, analytical skills and understanding of mobility and hidden disabilities to assess eligibility for Blue Badges in line with Department for Transport guidance.
