Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care services to patients across various clinical settings, including critical care units, emergency departments, neonatal and pediatric units, and outpatient clinics. Your expertise will support patient stabilization, airway management, ventilator operation, and respiratory therapy interventions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care excellence, possess extensive hospital experience, and be proficient in handling complex respiratory devices and emergency procedures. Responsibilities
- Assess patients respiratory status through vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and physical examinations to determine appropriate interventions.
- Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery, nebulization treatments, and aerosolized medications with precision.
- Operate and monitor ventilators and other respiratory equipment, ensuring optimal functioning and patient safety.
- Manage airway devices including endotracheal tubes, tracheostomies, and airway adjuncts during routine care and emergency situations.
- Respond promptly to cardiac arrest emergencies by implementing advanced airway management techniques and resuscitation protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care settings such as ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), and trauma centers.
- Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, including patient assessments, treatment plans, and ventilator settings.
- Support neonatal resuscitation procedures and provide specialized respiratory care for neonates requiring critical interventions.
- Monitor patients response to therapies, adjusting treatment plans based on physiology knowledge and clinical judgment.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and medical equipment operation protocols.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of hospital medicine, emergency medicine procedures, and critical care practices.
- Proficiency in ventilator management, respiratory device operation, and airway management techniques.
- Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology principles, and medical terminology relevant to respiratory therapy.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Ability to perform patient assessments effectively in diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
- Skilled in medication administration related to respiratory treatments with attention to safety protocols.
- Familiarity with Level I & II trauma center operations, outpatient clinics, and inpatient hospital environments.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare professionals and educating patients or families.
- Technical proficiency in operating medical equipment essential for acute care settings.
- Demonstrated ability to respond swiftly during cardiac arrest emergencies or other urgent situations.
