An established furniture manufacturing company requires a firm and hands-on Assistant Factory Manager to support daily production operations, employee supervision and the achievement of production and quality targets. The successful candidate will motivate employees while maintaining discipline, accountability and consistent compliance with company procedures, safety requirements and quality standards.

Minimum Requirements:
Matric or an equivalent qualification
A relevant Production, Manufacturing or Operations Management qualification would be advantageous
Previous factory, production or manufacturing experience
Proven experience supervising or managing production employees
Furniture manufacturing experience would be highly advantageous
Strong leadership, employee-management and conflict-resolution skills
Able to motivate employees while maintaining discipline and accountability
Able to enforce production targets, quality standards and company procedures
Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant production or operational systems
Able to prepare production and employee-performance reports
Strong and proactive communication skills
Able to remain calm and decisive under operational pressure

Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Factory Manager with the daily management of factory operations
Supervise production employees and allocate daily duties and production targets
Monitor production progress, output, quality and employee productivity
Ensure production schedules and customer deadlines are achieved
Maintain workplace discipline and address employee-performance concerns
Motivate employees and promote accountability across the production floor
Ensure employees comply with company procedures, safety standards and operational rules
Monitor the quality of products throughout the manufacturing proces
Identify production delays, bottlenecks and quality concerns
Coordinate with Sales, Planning, Warehouse and Despatch departments
Assist with material planning and ensure required materials are available for production
Support the training and development of factory employees
Assist with operational problem-solving and corrective action
Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production and performance reports
Provide management with proactive updates regarding risks, delays and operational requirements
