About the role:

As Director, Portfolio Strategy & Governance, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Global Technical Operations (GTO). Operating at the intersection of strategy, governance, and organizational transformation, you will drive portfolio excellence across a complex global network, ensuring investments, resources, and capabilities are aligned with the company's most critical priorities.
In this highly visible leadership position, you will partner with senior executives across Global Technical Operations, Global Technical Development (GTD), and the External Supply Organization (ESO) to guide strategic decision-making, optimize investments, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and enable scalable long-term growth. Your work will directly influence how GTO delivers on its mission, balancing business priorities, operational excellence, and future readiness in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Your Responsibilities:

- Lead the strategic governance and oversight of the Global Technical Operations portfolio, ensuring investments, initiatives, and resources are prioritized to maximize business impact and enterprise value.

- Drive portfolio planning, business case development, and investment governance, enabling informed decision-making and alignment of funding, capabilities, and strategic objectives.

- Develop and implement integrated workforce, capability, and capacity strategies that ensure organizational readiness for both current priorities and future growth opportunities.

- Champion operational excellence by establishing scalable processes, strengthening organizational effectiveness, leading transformational change, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the global GTO network.

- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to senior leaders, shaping business strategy, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring successful execution of critical priorities.

- Collaborate closely with GTO, GTD, and ESO leadership teams to align portfolio priorities, resource allocation, organizational capabilities, investment decisions, and execution of enterprise-wide initiatives.

A good match:

- Significant leadership experience within a global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences organization, ideally operating in a complex, matrixed environment.

- Demonstrated success influencing and collaborating with senior stakeholders across functions, geographies, and organizational levels.

- Deep expertise in portfolio management, governance, strategic planning, resource management, and operational excellence.

- Proven ability to design workforce and capability strategies that support organizational agility, business continuity, and sustainable growth.

- Strong strategic mindset paired with a results-oriented approach and the ability to translate vision into execution.

- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills.

- Business-fluent English; additional languages are an advantage.
