About this role

Accountabilities:

- Lead all phases of IT project management, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout, in accordance with PMP standards and applicable federal project management procedures.

- Serve as the operational team lead for the PMCoE, providing day-to-day coordination, guidance, and oversight to 22 Project Managers and one SharePoint/Web Developer.

- Develop formal project charters and establish clear project objectives, roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

- Create and maintain detailed project plans, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and deliverables-based schedules that accurately reflect project scope and activities.

- Facilitate project kickoffs, status meetings, reviews, and closeout sessions with project teams, customers, program managers, sponsors, and senior stakeholders.

- Monitor milestones, critical dates, dependencies, and deliverables while identifying potential schedule risks and developing appropriate corrective actions.

- Identify, assess, document, track, and mitigate cost, resource, schedule, technical, and delivery risks throughout the project lifecycle.

- Analyze variances from approved plans and implement changes to keep projects aligned with scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

- Develop project effort, cost, and resource estimates and track actual performance against approved plans.

- Maintain effective communication and collaboration across customers, internal teams, external stakeholders, and project leadership.

- Conduct periodic project performance reviews and provide clear status updates, measurements, and insights to senior management and program leadership.

- Ensure project documentation, schedules, risk information, and other work products remain accurate, accessible, and ready for review and approval.

- Apply project management tools and performance measurements to support effective planning, tracking, oversight, and continuous improvement across the portfolio.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or a related scientific or technical discipline.

- 10+ years of program or project management experience, including substantial experience managing IT-related projects.

- PMP certification or an equivalent recognized project management certification.

- Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating large project management teams in complex IT environments.

- Strong knowledge of project and lifecycle management methodologies, standards, and best practices.

- Proven experience tracking project cost, schedule, resources, deliverables, and performance.

- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, communicate, and mitigate project risks.

- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex project dependencies.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to present project information clearly to large and diverse groups.

- Strong leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

- Federal government or Department of Veterans Affairs project experience is preferred.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).

- Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

- Must meet applicable federal identification requirements and be able to update identification documents as needed to successfully complete the suitability process.

- Ability to work remotely while supporting Eastern Time working hours.
