Position Overview

University Registrar serves
as a senior member of the Division of Student Affairs, providing leadership and oversight of student academic records, registration, academic scheduling, degree audit, academic standing, graduation, and related services.

The Registrar ensures the accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and timely maintenance of student records and oversees the effective use of student information systems. The position interprets and implements academic policies, supports curriculum and degree requirements, oversees transfer credit and graduation processes, and ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

The Registrar also leads the Registrar’s Office, works collaboratively with Academic Affairs and other University departments, and promotes efficient, student-centered processes and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and oversee the Registrar’s Office and its daily operations, services, and staff.

- Manage student academic records, registration, transcripts, degree audits, and enrollment verification.

- Oversee academic scheduling, course offerings, and registration processes in coordination with academic schools.

- Ensure accurate implementation and maintenance of curricula, program requirements, and academic policies.

- Oversee transfer credit evaluations, grading, academic standing, graduation clearance, degree conferral, and diplomas.

- Maintain the accuracy, security, confidentiality, and integrity of student records and academic data.

- Oversee the effective use and functionality of the Student Information System (SIS) and related academic systems.

- Prepare and coordinate enrollment, academic, graduation, and regulatory reports and support accreditation requirements.

- Interpret and apply academic policies and provide guidance to students, faculty, and staff on Registrar-related matters.

- Collaborate with Academic Affairs, academic schools, Advising, Admissions, IT, and other University departments to support student success.

- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

- Identify opportunities to improve Registrar processes, systems, and student services.

Skills and Competencies

- Comprehensive knowledge and experience across all facets of Registrar operations, including student records, registration, transcripts, degree audit, and graduation services.

- Strong knowledge of higher education academic policies, procedures, curriculum requirements, and records management.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Student Information Systems (SIS), degree audit systems, and other academic technologies.

- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the University.

- Ability to interpret policies, exercise sound judgment, and provide clear guidance on academic and Registrar-related matters.

- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality and data security.

- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse departments and stakeholder groups.

- Demonstrated leadership ability, including the capacity to supervise, develop, and evaluate staff and achieve departmental goals.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, diverse university environment and adapt to changing priorities.

- Commitment to continuous improvement and the effective use of technology to enhance Registrar services.

- Ability to work occasionally in the evenings and weekends as required.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including at least 3 years of experience in a Registrar’s Office or a similar academic records environment.

- Demonstrated experience in supervising and developing departmental staff.

- Experience with student information systems and academic technologies, including implementation and process improvement; proficiency in Banner and Degree Works is preferred.

- Experience in developing, managing, and monitoring departmental budgets.

- Strong experience in higher education data management, research, analysis, and reporting, with the ability to use data to support institutional and operational decision-making.
