Join us as a Finance & Accounting Student

Are you a finance or accounting student who enjoys working with numbers and keeping things accurate and organised? We’re looking for a proactive and hands-on Finance & Accounting Student to support our Finance & HR Manager with the day-to-day financial administration of Solarplaza.

In this role, you’ll support the day-to-day financial operations of Solarplaza, with a focus on invoicing, debtor management, financial administration, and working with data. You’ll also communicate with customers, partners, and other external stakeholders, including following up on outstanding payments. Alongside these recurring activities, you’ll have the opportunity to help improve processes and support finance-related projects as you become familiar with our business.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. We do expect a solid financial foundation, a proactive mindset, and a willingness to learn. We’re looking for someone who is organised, thinks along, asks questions, and takes ownership of their work.

As a Finance & Accounting Student, you’ll support our Finance & HR Manager with the day-to-day financial administration of Solarplaza. You’ll help keep our financial administration accurate and up to date, while gaining practical experience in finance and accounting.

Invoicing & accounts receivable

- Create sales invoices based on sponsorship quotes and agreements

- Process ticket invoices generated through our event platform

- Manage outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments

- Contact customers and partners regarding invoices and payments

- Make debtor calls when needed and help resolve payment issues

- Keep financial records accurate and up to date

Financial administration

- Manage and respond to the finance inbox

- Process and check financial information

- Support basic reconciliations and investigate discrepancies

- Maintain accurate financial administration

- Work with Excel and financial data

- Apply your knowledge of debit and credit in day-to-day accounting activities

- Support the preparation and review of financial information, including P&L statements and balance sheets

Additional projects & process improvement

- Help improve and document finance processes

- Support projects such as foreign VAT registrations

- Identify opportunities to make recurring finance tasks more efficient

- Support the use of Excel, data, AI, or automation where relevant

- Take on additional finance-related projects as you become familiar with our processes

- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics, or a related field .

- Available for 8–12 hours per week alongside your studies.

- Basic understanding of debit and credit .

- Basic knowledge of P&L statements and balance sheets .

- Comfortable working with numbers, Excel, and data .

- Accurate and detail-oriented.

- Proactive and organised.

- Comfortable communicating with customers, partners, and other external stakeholders .

- Not afraid to pick up the phone , including for debtor follow-up.

- Able to work independently and take ownership.

- Curious and willing to learn.

- Fluent in English , both written and spoken; Dutch is a plus .

- Based in or near Rotterdam and able to work from the office when needed.

- You have a valid visa or authorization to work in the Netherlands (if applicable).

- A meaningful part-time role with hands-on experience in finance and accounting .

- Practical experience with invoicing, accounts receivable, financial administration, and data.
