Description
Amazon Studios has an opening for a Junior Documentary Executive to help grow the refreshed Nonfiction initiative for Prime Video in the US. The ideal candidate has experience as a development exec along with a knowledge of the creative and business issues in bringing programs from idea to launch. This candidate must have proven experience in selecting, developing, producing, as well as strong interpersonal skills and creative instincts. This candidate will have the ability to support multiple projects on the current slate as well as have a track record of working on audience-forward documentary series.
Key job responsibilities
Deep dive and research compelling stories for Amazon’s documentary slate. Exercise good creative and business judgment in spotting ideas for greenlight and development. Is great at identifying content white spaces and opportunities.
Review incoming creative materials and pitches. Give feedback on outlines and cuts to ensure quality of finished product meets Amazon’s quality and creative standards.
Support and help manage key relationships with filmmakers and companies along with senior documentary content executives, ensuring everything from preproduction to final delivery go smoothly.
Report to the Sr. Creative Executive and assist in shaping an audience-forward slate that includes high profile, highly sensitive projects.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, advertising or business
- Experience with a proven track record of storytelling by developing successful films or shows either as an independent consultant, in a studio or as part of a customer-facing media company
- Experience working with diverse partners, from executives to content creators
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years in the Documentary industry at a proven production company or network with current programming experience
- Experience overseeing all creative aspects of development production and post production
- 5+ years of development experience in audience-forward documentaries

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
