Tab Forming Manufacturing Technician, LFP Battery Cell Manufacturing

Tesla’s LFP Electrode Production Team is seeking highly motivated individuals to tackle manufacturing of a challenging new process. You will be working alongside Engineers, Maintenance, Quality, and Training to develop an advanced new process and be among the first individuals to work in a new cell manufacturing factory within Tesla. You will spend a significant amount of time training, troubleshooting, and driving performance.

- Monitor and troubleshoot notching equipment, including laser cutting and CCD vision systems, to maintain process dimensions within defined specifications
- Identify and escalate abnormal material and equipment conditions on Tab Forming lines, coordinating with Process Technicians and Maintenance to disposition non-conformances and restore normal operation with minimal downtime
- Complete standard work process and follow work instructions, procedures, and rotate as required
- Escalate technical and process issues to the appropriate support groups and leaders
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures and demonstrate a high level of professionalism
- Maintain exemplary attendance and punctuality to scheduled shifts

- Manufacturing/industrial experience, 3-5 years preferred
- Experience operating notching lines, requiring highly skilled work in monitoring and adjusting equipment parameters that affect web tension, EPC reference positions, and cutting dimensions to address incoming material and process abnormalities while maintaining line output
- Experience with operating and troubleshooting automated/semi-automated manufacturing equipment, basic mechanical troubleshooting preferred
- Demonstrate ability to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions, Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles are preferred, but not required
- Command of the English language, both written and verbal with ability to understand and record maintenance procedures, shift pass downs
- Comfortable with frequent change of direction, dynamic work environment and passion to perform time-sensitive analysis under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-driven contributor with limited supervision

- Able to perform assembly work and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours/day
- Able to execute tasks within required cycle time, quickly and accurately during new hire training and maintaining ability throughout employment.
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., climb and descend a 10” step, and ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
- Exposures to hazardous materials used and ability to follow waste handling/disposal procedures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment for up to 12 hours per day, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, half-faced respirators, gloves, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
