About this role
Accountabilities:
- Own the architecture, design, delivery, and production operation of systems within the Growth domain.
- Break down large and ambiguous initiatives into parallel workstreams, identifying complex technical challenges and dependencies early.
- Create design documents and architecture decision records that provide durable technical direction and anticipate future changes.
- Establish high engineering standards by improving code clarity, refactoring where appropriate, and introducing reusable abstractions that provide meaningful value.
- Design effective testing strategies for owned systems and improve CI reliability to enable confident and consistent delivery.
- Lead incident investigations and create blameless postmortems with actionable improvements that reduce the likelihood of recurring issues.
- Mentor engineers through structured guidance, technical discussions, and code reviews focused on both quality and professional development.
- Partner closely with Product and Design to identify cost-effective solutions to user problems and challenge scope when data supports an alternative approach.
- Communicate technical risks and trade-offs in terms of business impact, providing stakeholders with clear options and escalating potential issues early.
- Contribute to platform-wide growth capabilities including attribution, retention, dynamic bonusing, and affiliate tooling.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven experience owning a significant production system from initial design and implementation through deployment, operation, and ongoing improvement.
- Strong architectural and design judgment, with the ability to distinguish valuable abstractions from unnecessary complexity.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and helping colleagues strengthen their technical skills and overall effectiveness.
- Ability to make and defend technical decisions in challenging situations while remaining open to changing direction when new evidence emerges.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively on complex, ambiguous projects with evolving requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts, risks, and trade-offs for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative approach to working with Product, Design, and Engineering teams while maintaining a strong focus on business and user outcomes.
- Experience with high-volume system architectures is a strong advantage.
- Background in ad-tech, player journey mapping, or a related domain is a plus.
- Experience leading a technical migration, deprecation, or other large-scale change that required coordination across multiple engineers or teams is advantageous.
