Job Title: Pharmacy Floor Technician Job Description
The Pharmacy Floor Technician supports the safe and efficient preparation of prescription medications by accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing finished prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist. This role plays a key part in daily drug order fulfillment, inventory maintenance, and adherence to regulatory and departmental standards within a pharmacy setting.
Responsibilities
- Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks, to fulfill prescription orders.
- Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to ensure accuracy before pharmacist verification.
- Alert the pharmacist on duty when any medication or product does not scan properly or appears inconsistent.
- Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures.
- Prepack frequently ordered medications, label, and store them as needed during low-volume periods.
- Package materials and products manually to support pharmacy operations.
- Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
- Replenish all stock supplies needed at the workstation and in medication storage areas.
- Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code.
- Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to meet operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall pharmacy operations.
Essential Skills
- Possess and maintain a clear and active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated data entry skills with the ability to enter information accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to work at a moderate, sustained pace while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow procedures and communicate effectively.
- Previous experience in a pharmacy technician role, including retail pharmacy experience, is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, picking, and scanning of medications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in retail pharmacy or similar pharmacy environment.
- Comfort working under the supervision of a pharmacist in a fast-paced setting.
- Reliability and strong attendance record to support consistent pharmacy operations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to established procedures.
- Commitment to maintaining licensure and staying current with applicable pharmacy regulations.
Work Environment
This role is based in a pharmacy setting that focuses on high-volume prescription preparation and order fulfillment. The standard shift is 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with work every other weekend as part of the regular schedule. Overtime, holiday, and weekend work may be required to support operational demands. The environment involves standing, walking, and working at a designated workstation while picking medications from shelving and prepack racks, manually packaging products, and using scanning equipment and labeling systems. Team members follow departmental dress code policies and safety procedures, and are expected to comply with HIPAA and all applicable government regulations to ensure a secure and professional workplace.

This is a Contract position based out of Marlborough, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
