BlackRock is seeking an experienced Systematic Investment Strategist to support the commercialization, client engagement, and product servicing of our Systematic Active Equity (SAE) platform across Asia Pacific, with a particular focus on Greater China .

SAE has a growing presence of investment professionals in Hong Kong , reflecting the continued expansion of our investment capabilities and client franchise across Asia Pacific. This role will be an important part of that growth and will work closely with portfolio management, research, and strategy colleagues across Hong Kong, Singapore, London, San Francisco, and the broader global SAE platform.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced investment professional to join the SAE team in Hong Kong and serve as a key bridge between our investment platform and clients across Asia Pacific, with particular emphasis on Greater China.

The role requires the ability to communicate SAE’s investment philosophy, research process, portfolio construction, and product capabilities across a wide range of audiences—from highly technical institutional due diligence discussions to large-scale wealth and distribution presentations. The successful candidate will develop deep expertise across SAE’s full range of strategies, spanning long-only active equity, equity extension, and hedge fund solutions.

The individual will be expected to develop into a highly self-sufficient member of the team, taking ownership of client relationships and commercial opportunities while remaining deeply connected to SAE’s global investment platform. The role will report directly to the Head of APAC Systematic Investment Strategy, based in San Francisco , and will work closely with SAE investment professionals in Hong Kong, Singapore, San Francsico as well as colleagues across SAE’s global investment platform.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong blend of:

- Client and interpersonal skills – Ability to build credibility with sophisticated institutional investors, wealth clients, distribution partners, and senior internal stakeholders.
- Investment and technical knowledge – Strong understanding of systematic investing and the ability to explain how quantitative strategies source information, generate alpha, manage risk, and construct portfolios.
- Analytical and programming capabilities – Ability to efficiently access, analyze, and interpret investment and portfolio data using Python, proprietary SAE systems, and other analytical tools, and translate analysis into clear investment insights.
- Greater China market knowledge – Experience with, or a strong ability to develop expertise in, Greater China institutional and wealth markets, including how clients allocate capital and evaluate investment managers.
- Commercial ownership – Ability to independently manage priorities, maintain momentum across client opportunities, and coordinate effectively across investment, sales, product, and client teams.
- Team orientation – A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute beyond defined responsibilities, working effectively with colleagues across functions, seniority levels, and geographies.

Primary Responsibilities

- Represent SAE with clients across Asia Pacific , with particular focus on Greater China, leading and participating in institutional due diligence meetings, wealth and distribution engagements, conferences, roadshows, and product presentations.
- Serve as an investment and product specialist across SAE strategies , clearly articulating the team’s investment philosophy, alpha research, portfolio construction, risk management, performance, and market positioning across long-only, equity extension, and hedge fund solutions.
- Develop high-quality investment analysis and client content , including pitch books, market commentaries, portfolio and attribution analysis, performance reviews, competitive analysis, and other materials tailored to different client audiences.
- Drive commercialization and client opportunities in partnership with regional sales and distribution teams, helping develop product strategy, respond to sophisticated client questions, progress due diligence processes, and maintain momentum from initial engagement through implementation.
- Partner closely with SAE’s global investment organization and internal stakeholders , including portfolio management, research, product, sales, client servicing, marketing, legal, and operations, contributing to the continued development of the Asia Pacific franchise.
- Support investment and portfolio activities during Asia trading hours , including quantitative and portfolio analysis using Python and proprietary investment systems, while building deep connectivity with SAE’s growing team of investment professionals in Hong Kong and the broader global platform.

Skills & Qualifications

- 5+ years of relevant investment management or financial markets experience , preferably within systematic investing, quantitative equity, portfolio management, investment strategy, or a related discipline; bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required.
- Strong understanding of systematic investing and equity markets , including alpha generation, portfolio construction, risk management, and investment performance analysis, with the technical depth to engage sophisticated institutional investors.
- Demonstrated experience with Greater China clients , ideally spanning institutional, wealth, asset management, or distribution channels, together with a strong understanding of the regional investment landscape.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese , with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills and the ability to translate complex quantitative concepts into clear and compelling client communications.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities , including proficiency in Python and experience working with investment data, databases, Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar Direct, or comparable investment and analytical platforms.
- Highly collaborative, intellectually curious, and commercially minded , with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ownership mentality, ability to operate effectively across global teams and time zones, and willingness to travel regionally and globally as required.
