The Stabilization Intervention Specialist provides on-site crisis intervention and stabilization services to youth experiencing behavioral health emergencies. Working under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, this role assists with crisis screenings, safety planning, behavioral observation, emotional stabilization, and family engagement. The position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment while supporting youth and families through crisis situations using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices.

· Experience in crisis stabilization, behavioral health intervention, and family support services

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide on-site crisis intervention and stabilization support for youth experiencing behavioral health emergencies, emotional dysregulation, self-harm behaviors, suicidal ideation, and acute psychiatric symptoms
· Deliver brief, skill-based interventions that promote emotional regulation, coping skills, resilience, and stabilization
· Engage youth and caregivers in safety planning, crisis support, education, and recovery-focused services
· Support the development and implementation of individualized crisis stabilization and safety plans under clinical supervision
· Monitor behavioral and mental status changes and communicate observations to licensed clinical team members
· Assist with crisis screenings, risk observations, and assessment-related activities
· Coordinate with caregivers and families to provide education, emotional support, and ongoing crisis intervention resources
· Assist with discharge planning and coordination of aftercare recommendations to support successful transitions
· Collaborate with licensed clinicians, nurses, peer specialists, medical providers, discharge planners, and behavioral health staff to ensure quality care
· Participate in shift handoffs, team meetings, consultations, and treatment coordination activities
· Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for youth receiving services
· Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency, regulatory, and state requirements
· Follow confidentiality standards, HIPAA regulations, mandated reporting requirements, and agency safety protocols

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field meeting Missouri Department of Mental Health requirements for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
· One to three years of direct care experience required
· Experience working with children and adolescents preferred
· Experience utilizing skill-based interventions preferred
· Experience working within a multidisciplinary, team-based care environment preferred

Additional Qualifications:

· Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required
· Successful completion of background screening, including criminal history, driving record, abuse/neglect screening, and fingerprint check
· Ability to utilize trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and evidence-informed de-escalation techniques
· Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and mandated reporting requirements
· Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced crisis environment

Physical Requirements

· Perform sedentary work with occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
· Sit for extended periods throughout the workday with occasional standing and walking
· Frequently use hands, fingers, and arms for typing, writing, and documentation activities
· Perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with computer and office work
· Move throughout the crisis center as needed to support youth, families, and team operations
