Your opportunity
Lead the OTC Derivatives team responsible for the accurate, timely and controlled post-trade support of OTC derivatives, including Trade Capture & Affirmation, Settlement & Cashflows, Collateral & Margin. This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who understands how derivatives work in practice across their full lifecycle and can combine technical credibility with strong people leadership.
You will own the team’s service delivery and control environment, act as a senior escalation point for complex or high-risk issues, and work closely with investment teams, Trading, Risk, Compliance, Technology, brokers, custodians, counterparties and third-party administrators. You will also help shape a scalable operating model through process improvement, automation, new-product readiness and the development of a capable, collaborative team.
You will:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of OTC Derivatives professionals, ensuring effective coverage, strong technical capability, clear accountability and consistently high operational standards.
- Own and oversee the post-trade operating model for OTC derivatives, including trade capture and verification, affirmation and confirmation, settlement and cashflows, collateral and margin, reconciliations and lifecycle event processing.
- Ensure accurate and timely resolution of trade, position, cash, collateral, valuation and lifecycle breaks, with clear prioritisation and escalation of high-risk or time-critical issues.
- Act as a senior operational point of contact and escalation for Portfolio Managers, Traders, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Technology, brokers, custodians, counterparties, valuation agents, fund administrators and other service providers.
- Maintain a robust control environment across daily processing, reconciliations, exception management, data quality, procedures, governance and regulatory obligations.
- Support operational readiness for new derivatives products, markets, strategies, counterparties and system changes, coordinating analysis, testing, booking-model validation, lifecycle readiness and implementation.
- Identify and deliver improvements to workflows, controls and management information, including automation and straight-through-processing opportunities that reduce manual intervention and strengthen scalability.
- Partner with Middle Office Leadership and colleagues across Global Operations to evolve the target operating model, improve service delivery and support strategic initiatives.
- Represent the OTC Derivatives Operations function in audits, regulatory reviews, control testing and governance forums, and ensure operating procedures remain accurate and current.

Must have skills
- Derivatives Operations Experience: Extensive, hands-on experience with OTC derivatives post-trade or middle office operations related experience preferred.
- Product & Lifecycle Expertise: Strong working knowledge of derivative trade lifecycles across several product types, such as options or swaps, and related collateral, margin, cashflow and lifecycle events.
- Relevant Industry Background: Experience gained within an asset manager, investment bank, hedge fund or similarly complex financial-markets environment. Experience across more than one operating model is beneficial.
- Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead, coach and develop operations professionals, set priorities, manage coverage and create a culture of ownership and high standards.
- Operational Control & Judgement: Strong understanding of operational risk, reconciliations, exception management, regulatory obligations and control frameworks, with the judgement to assess impact and escalate appropriately.
- Problem Solving: Ability to investigate complex trade, position, valuation, settlement, collateral and lifecycle issues and coordinate practical resolution across multiple stakeholders.
- Change & Process Improvement: Demonstrated success improving workflows, controls or systems through automation, standardisation, testing, implementation or operating-model change.
- Stakeholder Management: Credibility and communication skills to work effectively with investment teams, Trading, Risk, Compliance, Technology and external partners in a multinational organisation.
- Experience Level: We welcome different career paths. As a guide, successful candidates are likely to bring approximately 4-5 years of relevant derivatives operations experience, although depth, breadth and leadership readiness are more important than a precise number of years.
Nice to have skills
- Complex Products: Operational experience with equity or commodity derivatives, vanilla and exotic options, structured payoffs, TRS, variance or volatility products, credit or rates derivatives, and private placements.
- Valuation & NAV Support: Experience resolving pricing, valuation, accounting or reconciliation issues with fund administrators, valuation agents and internal stakeholders, including support for NAV sign-off.
- Collateral & Legal Frameworks: Working familiarity with collateral operations and agreements such as ISDA CSA, GMRA and tri-party arrangements.
- Systems & Market Infrastructure: Experience with platforms and utilities used in derivatives operations, such as Aladdin, SimCorp, Charles River, Bloomberg, MarkitWire, Acadia, TriResolve, clearing-broker or custodian portals, or comparable systems.
- New Product & Service Readiness: Experience establishing or expanding a derivatives operations function, onboarding products or counterparties, or supporting migrations and regulatory change.
- Data & Automation: Confidence using data, management information and workflow tools to improve transparency, controls and operational efficiency.
