 Role: Inbound Area Manager (Receiving)

 Location: Fort Worth, TX

At Coastal Trading Ventures, we are the inbound engine behind one of the fastest-growing eCommerce fulfillment operations in the country as the fifth largest seller by volume on Amazon, and our Fort Worth facility is scaling fast. Every day, trailers of LTL, FTL, and mixed-pallet freight hit our dock, and every unit has to be verified, put away, and system-available fast enough to keep production running and Amazon's FBA shipments moving as ou r Inbound Area Manager - Receiving & Dock Operations expert.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced environment. You'll own dock-to-stock, receiving accuracy, and the team that keeps freight flowing while our WMS is still being built out from scratch.

 Your Team

You'll lead the leads and associates who unload, verify, and put away every inbound shipment working closely with fellow Area Managers and with Prep, Kitting, and Outbound to keep freight moving without stalling production. You'll report to the Operations Manager.

 What You'll Be Doing

- Oversee receiving of LTL, FTL, and mixed-pallet CPG shipments, ensuring accurate, efficient unloading
- Own dock scheduling and appointment management, sequencing freight against labor, storage, and downstream kitting/outbound needs
- Drive dock-to-stock performance, including expedited handling for components gating an active kitting run or FBA shipment
- Direct the team to verify merchandise against BOLs and packing lists, holding the standard when volume is heavy
- Identify, document, and resolve discrepancies - shorts, overages, damages, mislabeled freight by root cause, not adjustment
- Partner with Inventory Control and Prep on slotting, put-away logic, and overflow management
- Manage returns and reverse-logistics receiving: inspection, disposition, reconciliation
- Train, mentor, and evaluate leads and associates to build bench strength
- Serve as inbound's point of contact for clients, and hold suppliers and carriers accountable to appointment, labeling, and documentation standards
- Act as inbound's business owner for the in-house WMS build defining requirements, testing functionality, and prioritizing fixes
- Monitor KPIs (throughput, receipt accuracy, dock-to-stock, labor productivity) and report performance to the Operations Manager
- Uphold a safe working environment - dock safety, PIT certification, OSHA compliance
- Other duties as assigned

️ Your First 90 Days

Days 1–30: Learn CTV's receiving profiles and client requirements. Shadow shipments end-to-end — from trailer arrival through system-available inventory — to see where accuracy or dock-to-stock slips today.

Days 30–60: Establish your KPI cadence. Set the baseline for dock-to-stock, receiving accuracy, and discrepancy resolution time, and stand up the daily rhythm that holds the line as volume grows.

Days 60–90: Deliver a prioritized improvement plan with owners and dates.

✅ What You Bring - Required

- 5+ years as an Inbound Manager or Inbound Area Manager, or a directly equivalent full-ownership receiving role, plus prior supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience in a high-SKU, high-complexity, high-volume receiving environment — ready to speak to real numbers: SKU count, daily volume, headcount, dock-to-stock
- Extensive experience managing inbound CPG operations across LTL, FTL, and mixed pallets
- Operational leadership and people management experience in a fast-paced 3PL fulfillment setting
- Strong working knowledge of a WMS and comfort in an integrated system environment
- Comfort operating in a system that's still being built with manual controls are sometimes the answer for a while
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate and manage teams effectively
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets proficiency for reporting and analysis
- Ability to collaborate and strategize with business stakeholders and clients
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and some holidays as business needs require

✅ Nice-to-Have

- Experience with Amazon FBA requirements - prep, packaging, FNSKU labeling
- Experience on a proprietary or in-house-built WMS
- Experience partnering with an internal software/IT team as the operational voice writing requirements, running UAT
- Component-level or BOM-driven inventory experience supporting kitting or production
- Experience standing up a new inbound program, onboarding a client, or migrating a WMS
- Lean, Six Sigma, or formal continuous improvement training
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or equivalent operating experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
