Summary

- The Employee Health RN provides nursing service, education and guidance for Sioux Center Health employees on a pre-employment and as needed basis. This position assists in identifying, evaluating and reducing risk of Sioux Center Health’s patient, visitor, and employee injury through maintenance and improvement of facilities and equipment. This position may also assist Sioux Center Health employees who become ill or injured at work.

General Hours of Work

- Monday-Friday; call involvement

Education and/or Experience

- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. Must have minimum of 3 years of general nursing practice.

Certificate, Licenses, Registrations

- Current licensure as an RN in the state of Iowa required. Must obtain CPR certification within 3 months of hire date. This position requires a valid driver’s license and must carry their own automobile liability insurance.

Essential Functions

- Responsible to assist in maintaining a comprehensive Employee Health Program that includes elements such as the following: Health History, Post Offer Physical Exams, Immunization records, necessary titer records, TB testing, other regulatory required testing.
- Completes pre-employment screening and a brief health and safety orientation, drug and alcohol testing, and/or vaccinations as requested by company.
- Responsible to plan, organize and implement activities of the Employee Health Office. Design forms for use in Employee Health Office. Maintain required records, reports, and statistics for Human Resources Department, Employee Health Department and Administration.
- Provides knowledge for safety issues and education within each industry and stays current in occupational health nursing issues.
- Manages employee health as directed by each industry and maintains accurate records.
- Manages workers’ compensation cases. Makes necessary contacts, appointments, follow ups, etc. with the contracted companies, employees, physicians, hospital, and compensation carriers.
- Provide first aid or act as a liaison with physicians for provision of care for employees who become ill or are injured while on duty. Initiate and complete all required documentation and provide follow-up on employees treated.
- Actively sets up individualized educational opportunities regarding health issues, safety issues, first responders, CPR, respiratory, hearing, etc.
- Follows medical directives as outlined in the policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
