Studio & Lab Technology Specialist

## Position Summary
The Studio and Lab Technology Specialist will serve as point person supporting the maintenance and operations of the Department of Photography & Imaging’s (DPI) digital labs, equipment, and digitization initiatives. Administer and support software applications, equipment, databases, and systems. Direct technical assistance to faculty/staff and instruction and oversight to students in digital photography, lighting, printing, and software. Support DPI IT infrastructure, including Mac and Windows desktops, endpoints, learning spaces, and servers. Develop and provide technology training for staff and faculty. Research emerging technologies and make recommendations. Partner with University departments and schools to develop and implement university-wide technologies. Partner with consultants, vendors, and IT departments to resolve technical, operational, and security needs. Supervise staff and students.

Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an artistic environment.
Required Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination.
Preferred Experience: 3+ years experience as a professional photographer.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, project management, and supervisory skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and follow-through skills; highly detail-oriented and able to work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities and producing accurate, complex technical documentation. Ability to quickly learn and apply new skills, technologies, software, and workflows. Knowledge of industry-standard audio/visual, recording, filmmaking, theatrical lighting/production, art studio management, computer hardware/software, and related technologies.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, internal administrative systems, digital photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and scanners; Hasselblad experience preferred. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop and Lightroom, and familiarity with RAW workflows using Capture One or Lightroom. Excellent color judgment and visual accuracy, with experience in large-format and fine-art printing, including Epson or Canon systems and diverse media such as canvas and silk.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of analog and digital photography, digital media hardware associated with 3D design for both on screen and physical application including 3D scanning, motion capture, VR/AR and other related input/output devices; AEM CMS; video editing. Capacity for flexible thinking with excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of an organization, both inside and outside the University. Enthusiasm for exploring how technology can support teaching and learning.

## Additional Information
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $85,250.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
