The high level:
The Community Engagement Manager (CEM) is part of an energetic team of leaders working together to leverage Reading Partners mission in the community. The Community Engagement Managers main role is to lead, develop, and mobilize a small team of AmeriCorps Volunteers to recruit, onboard, engage, and retain a diverse portfolio of volunteers to serve as literacy tutors in our reading centers. Reporting directly to the Regional Executive Director (with a heavy dotted line to the National Community Engagement Director and National Community Engagement Operations Manager), the Community Engagement Manager strategizes and project-manages the overall community engagement strategy for the region, including partnership development and management, other means of volunteer recruitment, training, compliance, scheduling, engagement, and more. The Community Engagement Manager is an expert relationship maximizer, is goal-oriented, and is excited by both strategic and on-the-ground work.
What youll do:
Each fiscal year, lead regional volunteer recruitment efforts, ensuring enough volunteers are recruited to meet annual tutor and student goals.
- Alongside the National Community Engagement Director and Executive Director, develop a comprehensive recruitment strategy inclusive of digital marketing, community partnerships, and local canvassing and events.
- Manage a portfolio of community partnerships to recruit volunteers.
- Supervise a calendar of regional recruitment events and support AmeriCorps Volunteers in their recruitment efforts.
Each fiscal year, develop streamlined and data-informed processes to achieve an excellent conversion rate and ensure volunteers have an excellent and timely onboarding experience.
- Collaborate with the National Community Engagement Director and Executive Director to operationalize and execute a regional onboarding process utilizing Salesforce
- Manage all parts of the onboarding process, including the volunteer sign-up form, tutor orientations, clearance requirements and compliance (i.e. background checks), and scheduling.
- Maintain clean data by following data best practices and completing regular data audits.
Each fiscal year, lead efforts to keep volunteers engaged and retained year over year.
- Working with the National Community Engagement Director and Executive Director, develop a regional strategy for volunteer retention and engagement, ensuring at least 40% of tutors are retained year over year and a volunteer satisfaction rate of at least 90%
- Lead on all volunteer communications, campaigns, and appreciation efforts
- Regularly review tutor survey data and take action to ensure a positive volunteer experience
Each fiscal year, recruit, hire, coach, manage, and train a team of 24-30 Reading Partners AmeriCorps Volunteers toward successfully reaching or exceeding community engagement regional impact goals.
- Manage at least 1 AmeriCorps Volunteer for every 5 schools within the region
- Aim for 90% or higher AmeriCorps retention by creating a supportive, engaging, and mission-oriented team experience for AmeriCorps Volunteers (via individual management and support as well as contributing to the development of a strong regional team culture in partnership with the Executive Director and Program staff)
- Partner with other regional staff members to recruit and hire 100% of each years allotment of AmeriCorps Volunteers by the deadline (supporting recruitment of both program and community engagement-focused AmeriCorps Volunteers)

Leadership & Management:
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in coaching, inspiring, and developing AmeriCorps Volunteers toward goals . Demonstrate an ability to provide clear guidance and goals, to delegate, and to provide growth opportunities while supporting progress along the way . Be able to recruit, hire, onboard, and deliver high-quality training to AmeriCorps Volunteers and volunteers . Support our national network of community engagement staff.
Relationship Development & Collaboration:
- Leverage existing relationships and build new transformational relationships in the community. Establish highly collaborative cross-functional relationships, and work effectively with all internal stakeholders for effective program delivery. Celebrate wins with all stakeholders.
Communication :
- Externally, demonstrate the ability to genuinely promote Reading Partners and our mission through a variety of strategies. Provide excellent customer service to partners and volunteers. Have a high level of comfort with public speaking, group facilitation, and with crafting mass communications for volunteers and partnerships. Be able to differentiate communication depending upon your audience.
- Internally, set up strong systems for communication and messaging, tailor communication to audiences, and contextualize messaging. Demonstrate a strong aptitude for effective communication, remotely and in person, with direct reports, school stakeholders, and other Reading Partners staff. Be able to conduct difficult conversations with grace and ease.
Project Management:
- Create innovative solutions in the face of competition for resources, time, etc. with a high degree of adaptability and flexibility. Anticipate challenges and/or questions, and proactively execute solutions. Understand larger strategic priorities and make measurable progress against these larger goals. Be able to make quick, sound, and on-the-fly decisions that consider all stakeholders. See the bigger picture and also drill down to smaller details to connect the dots.

Reading Partners compensation and benefits programs are designed to attract, motivate, engage, and retain top talent to propel our mission forward. We aim to set salaries based on objective, external, high-quality market data. Our salaries are adjusted for candidates in different geographic regions. We do our very best to ensure that were bringing our best offer - therefore we do not engage in salary negotiations.
- This is a full-time, exempt, and salaried position. The pay range for this position is $60,650 - $71,353.
- We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flex spending accounts, generous paid time off, commuter benefits, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and currently a 403(b) match option.
- Professional development reimbursement fund up to $300 per year.

The other things you need to know:
- This role is a hybrid role with in-person reporting to the North Texas office or surrounding area 1-4 times per week.
- Travel : This position travels regularly throughout North Texas.

Qualifications
About you!
Youll be successful in this role if you:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the North Texas education landscape and broader community
- Have 3+ years of progressive experience in customer service, marketing, client management, operations, community organizing, or a similar field
- Have direct management experience of volunteers, interns, and/or emerging professionals
- Have database management experience and a high level of comfort with Google Apps and Salesforce
- Have access to reliable transportation to travel within a defined geographic region on a daily basis
- Have flexibility and adaptability in work style and work schedule, including occasional night and weekend time
- Demonstrate a commitment to fostering a dynamic and collaborative work environment

- Ability to prove eligibility to work legally in the U.S. and that you are at least 18 years of age.
