Title: Trading Post Manager
Position: Full time – Nonexempt (Salaried)

Position Summary:

Performs supervision of cashiers and secretary while operating the business on a daily basis.
Works with sales persons and company suppliers as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Confers with Tribal Council to discuss possible new accounts and to outline new
policies or sales promotion campaigns

 Balance transaction sheets twice daily

 Make bank deposits

 Balance credit card accounts

 Transacts business as agent for advertising accounts

 Directs preparation or special promotional features

 Make monthly reports to enterprise manager and finance account

 Monitors and analyzes sales promotion results to determine cost effectiveness of
promotions campaigns

 Train new cashiers

 Determines sales training needs for the business

 Works cooperatively with vendors and on promotions

 Develops and directs all sales training plans programs, and procedures to
employees checks prices and orders gas a needed

 Orders supplies for business

 Collects employee timesheets and leave requests forms for review and
approval/disapproval

 Pays all bills, taxes and is responsible for payroll

 Balances all accounts

 Handles all returned checks-NSF, writes letters to check writers to advise
 Develops annual operation budgets

 Confers with officials of newspapers, radio stations, and advertising agencies to
negotiate advertising contract

 Must posses good customer relation skills an ability to deal with stressful
situations

 On-Call 7 days a week and willing to work more than 40 hours per week as
replacement for absent personnel when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

 High School Diploma or G.E.D., with two (2) years of specialized course work in
advertising, marketing, business administration or related field, and three (3) years
of related experience, or any combination of education and experience.

 Prefer Bachelors Degree in business administration or other related business
degree

 Considerable knowledge of sales methods and procedures; considerable
knowledge of advertising and marketing’ working knowledge of general
management

 Ability to plan, organize and direct sales person; ability to develop and implement
a sales campaign; ability to train and motivate staff; ability to establish and
maintain effective working relationships with employees, and general public and
vendors

 Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

 Valid driver’s license in state of residency, and be fully insurable under tribal
insurance policy and maintain throughout employment with business

 Shall be computer literate with business programs to effectively manage the daily
operations on excel, works, etc.

While performing the duties of this position, the manager is frequently required to sit or stand,
and talk or hear effectively. The manager is occasionally required to use hands to operate,
finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend,
twist, climb, lift at least 15 pounds.

The Trading Post Manager shall comply with all requirements and provisions of Subpart D, of 43
CFR, Part 2, which implements the Privacy Act (5 USC 522a) (i)(l).

As condition of employment, applicants must consent to pre-employment drug testing prior to
appointment, and abide by the Drug-Free Workplace Policy while employed by the Kickapoo Tribe in
Kansas.
