We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of  Area Director- Guernsey

As Area Director, based in Guernsey you’ll oversee a team of regulated and non-regulated relationship managers while managing your own customer portfolio, helping customers with their holistic financial planning needs across key life events. This role sits at the heart of how we support Islands customers with banking, lending, investment and insurance needs. Success means building a consistent, high-quality customer experience while meeting business objectives through strong sales quality and service standards. You’ll develop the team’s capability through ongoing coaching, performance conversations and sharing best practice. You’ll also strengthen HSBC’s presence in the local community through internal and external connections that support growth and the HSBC brand.

In this role you’ll:

- Oversee the Guernsey Premier Team to meet Islands customers’ banking, lending, investment and insurance needs

- Manage a portfolio of customers and advise on holistic financial planning as a trusted adviser through key life events

- Coach and develop relationship managers to strengthen capability, performance and career progression within HSBC

- Apply the IWPB Operating Model and relevant operational guidelines to deliver consistent people management, service and sales outcomes

- Build internal and external connections that strengthen the HSBC brand, attract new customers and embed HSBC Guernsey in the local community

- Monitor sales activity and management information, using insights to focus the team and deliver business goals

- Run regular team and one-to-one sessions to share priorities, set focus and address risks and issues early

- Recruit and onboard relationship managers in line with headcount and resourcing plans

- Set objectives, run performance reviews and take action to address underperformance in line with policy

- Evaluate performance against KPIs and provide discretionary incentive recommendations in line with Group incentive plans

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

- Hold a Level 4 Financial Planning Diploma

- Bring proven experience providing holistic financial advice across a wide range of products and services

- Demonstrate experience in a Wealth Adviser, IFA, Financial Planning Manager or similar role

- Apply deep knowledge of financial planning and wealth products to customer needs

- Deliver needs-based solutions through effective communication, influencing and sales skills

- Build long-term partnerships and manage complex relationships with significant clients

- Manage team performance through objective setting, timely feedback and structured development planning

- Coach others by identifying development needs, closing knowledge gaps and reinforcing effective behaviours

- Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of retail banking products and services

- Communicate clearly in writing and speaking with colleagues and senior stakeholders
