Combination of Day and Night Shifts - 12 hour shifts
Join the team at University Medical Center New Orleans (UMC) , home to Louisiana's only verified Level I Trauma Center, and play a vital role in delivering advanced critical care to some of the region's most complex trauma patients.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to practice at the top of their license within a high-acuity Trauma Intensive Care Unit. As part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary trauma team, you will work alongside nationally recognized trauma and critical care physicians while caring for critically injured patients throughout their recovery journey.

What You'll Do
As a Trauma ICU Advanced Practice Provider, you will:
- Provide comprehensive bedside management of critically ill and injured trauma patients
- Perform complex patient assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans
- Assist with critical care procedures within your scope of practice
- Manage ongoing patient care, documentation, and professional billing responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with trauma surgeons, intensivists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary care teams
- Support patient and family education throughout hospitalization
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and professional development activities

Practice Environment
- Work in a busy, high-acuity Level I Trauma Center
- Collaborate with Dr. Patrick Greiffenstein, Trauma ICU Director , Dr. Allison Smith, Trauma Medical Director , and the Trauma ICU attending physician team
- Full integration into the UMC Trauma Service as a valued member of the Trauma Team
- Opportunity to practice the full scope of an Advanced Practice Provider in a dynamic academic and clinical environment

Qualifications
Education
- Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited institution
Licensure & Certification
- Current Louisiana PA license or APRN license (or eligibility for Louisiana licensure)
- DEA registration and Louisiana Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
