Your role

In a Research Center of 50 people, the main objective of this position is to lead and conduct projects aimed at developing new steel products and solutions for the automotive and mechanical industries in a global environment. In addition to strong scientific and technical expertise, project management and interpersonal skills are required to successfully lead multidisciplinary teams composed of technicians and engineers.

The main responsibilities include:

- Designing steels to enhance machinability through optimization of steel composition, inclusion nature, and inclusion morphology. Performing machinability characterization using advanced experimental protocols, including cutting force acquisition and infrared temperature measurements.

- Optimizing and developing new mechanical characterization protocols to accelerate the development of innovative steel solutions. This work will be carried out using internal testing facilities and in collaboration with external partners, particularly in the fields of fatigue and machinability.

- Collaborating with customers to support the implementation of new steel solutions within their manufacturing processes (hot and warm forming, machining). This includes identifying specific needs regarding material characterization (rheology, relaxation, creep, etc.), improving machinability, and providing recommendations on machining operations.

- Developing and applying thermomechanical models (Finite Element Analysis, in-house models and AI) to support the development of new steel solutions by predicting the effects of forming operations and heat treatments on microstructure and in-service properties.

- Conducting technology and market surveillance to ensure that the latest innovations and technologies are integrated into projects targeting the Automotive, Truck, and Energy sectors.

Your profile

- You hold a Master's degree or a PhD in Mechanics/Metallurgy or Machinability.

- You have knowledge in mechanics, metallurgy and machinability.

- You have knowledge of the automotive industry.

- You are fluent in French and in English.

- You have good communication skills.
