About this role
The Sales Account Associate is responsible for expanding assigned customer accounts, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting revenue growth through proactive account development. This role applies developing professional expertise and company policies to resolve a variety of customer and sales-related issues, exercises judgment within established practices, and collaborates with branch leadership, sales teams, vendors, and customers to deliver responsive service and profitable growth. The position works on assignments of moderate scope, builds productive working relationships, and typically operates with general direction on routine work and more detailed guidance on new initiatives or assignments.
Salary: $20 - $26 hourly | DOE
Primary Duties:
- Expand assigned customer accounts by identifying additional product, service, and application opportunities that support revenue growth and profitability.
- Research, identify, and qualify prospects, sales leads, and project opportunities, including determining customer needs and alignment with company offerings.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with customers, key decision-makers, internal sales partners, and vendors to support account growth and effective opportunity handoff.
- Coordinate account coverage plans, customer visits, and routing schedules with the Branch Manager and other internal partners.
- Track customer interactions, outreach activity, leads, and sales progress in company systems and provide regular updates on business development activity and results.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, and technical teams to develop customer strategies, support presentations, and connect customers with appropriate solutions.
- Use available programs, promotions, and product support materials to maximize customer value and account profitability.
- Develop professional and technical knowledge through product training, professional development, and ongoing learning related to industrial products, services, and customer applications.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area and comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.

Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Requires 2 or more years of related professional experience in sales, business development, account management, industrial distribution, or a similar customer-facing role.
- Working knowledge of sales practices, customer relationship management, and lead qualification methods.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to apply company policies and established procedures to resolve a variety of day-to-day customer and sales support issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and the ability to build productive working relationships with customers and internal partners.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage work of moderate scope with general guidance.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments while exercising judgment within defined practices and escalating non-routine issues as needed.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications; experience with CRM or ERP systems such as Epicor Prophet 21 is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and apply business calculations such as averages, gross profit, and gross margin.
- Experience in industrial distribution or familiarity with industrial and hydraulic hose, fittings, and related product applications is preferred.
- Ability to travel as needed and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with company guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The essential functions of this position will require the employee to perform the following physical activities:
- Frequent use of office and warehouse equipment.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials up to 70 lbs.
- Regular standing and walking on cement flooring; bending, reaching, climbing ladders.
- Work environments may include warehouses, offices, manufacturing sites, and customer facilities with varying temperatures and conditions.
- Regular, on‑site attendance required.
