Job Title: Clinical Pediatric Dietitian Job Description
This role provides essential nutritional care to pediatric patients in outpatient settings, using medical, biochemical, and nutritional information to assess needs and develop individualized care plans. The position focuses on delivering high-quality clinical nutrition services, supporting dietetic technicians, and contributing to the overall health and well-being of children in a leading pediatric healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic nutritional care to patients on assigned outpatient pediatric units.
- Evaluate medical, biochemical, and nutritional information to accurately assess each patient’s nutritional needs.
- Develop, document, and implement appropriate, individualized nutrition care plans for pediatric patients.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition care plans as needed based on clinical outcomes and updated information.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to integrate nutrition care into overall treatment plans.
- Educate patients and families on nutrition-related topics, ensuring they understand and can follow recommended dietary plans.
- Assist in supervising the daily work of the dietetic technician, providing guidance and support to ensure quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to clinical protocols and best practices for pediatric nutrition and acute care.
- Participate in outpatient clinic activities across multiple locations as part of a mostly remote schedule with designated in-person visits.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition and dietetics with a focus on clinical practice.
- Pediatric clinical experience providing nutrition care to children and adolescents.
- Active Massachusetts Dietitian license (MA License Dietitian).
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
- 1–3 years of experience in an acute care setting.
- Ability to evaluate medical, biochemical, and nutritional data to determine patient needs.
- Skill in developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans.
- Ability to supervise and support the daily work of dietetic technicians.
- Strong communication skills for educating patients, families, and collaborating with healthcare teams.
- Organizational skills to manage outpatient caseloads across multiple locations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Cardiology experience is a plus, particularly in managing nutrition care for pediatric patients with cardiac conditions.
- Experience working in a high-volume pediatric hospital or outpatient clinic environment.
- Comfort with a mostly remote work schedule combined with structured in-person clinical visits.
- Ability to adapt to different clinical settings and workflows while floating between multiple outpatient locations.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice in pediatric nutrition and continuous professional development.
Work Environment
This position supports outpatient pediatric units in a top-ranked pediatric hospital environment, recognized nationally for excellence in pediatric care. The schedule follows a Monday through Friday, 8-hour shift structure, with a mostly remote work arrangement. The role requires floating between outpatient locations in Waltham, Lexington, and Weymouth, with in-person patient visits scheduled on Tuesdays and the first Wednesday of every month. The work involves collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical teams, use of standard clinical documentation systems, and adherence to professional attire appropriate for outpatient healthcare settings during on-site visits. The environment is patient-centered, fast-paced, and highly focused on delivering exceptional pediatric care, offering the opportunity to contribute to a leading pediatric institution while maintaining a structured and predictable schedule.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
