Builder Lead, Ring Web Platform Team

Description

Ring's Web Platform team owns the shared web infrastructure that Ring's engineering teams build on. Our mandate is to manage that platform, modernize it, and make it better ,and to do it in a way that makes every team building on top of us faster and more confident in what they ship.

The next chapter for this team is threefold: drive a deliberate modernization of the platform, maintain the reliability and developer experience that consumer teams depend on, and build the Native AI capabilities that will define Ring's next generation of web experiences.

The SDM for this role will also lead the adoption of the a standardized, AI-assisted development workflow that is already showing meaningful results in teams that have adopted it , and scale it
as the default way Ring's web engineering org builds software.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end health of Ring's shared web platform, reliability, performance, and the developer experience for every team that builds on top of it
- Lead a platform modernization effort: identify technical debt, sequence the work, and drive resolution without disrupting product teams in flight
- Define and enforce platform engineering standards,patterns, tooling, and architectural guardrails that make the platform easier to build on over time
- Build the Native AI layer for Ring's web surface ,own both the consumer-facing AI features and the platform primitives that make AI-powered experiences buildable and maintainable at scale
- Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of software engineers; set a clear technical bar and build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
- Partner with product, design, and peer engineering orgs to translate platform needs into clear roadmaps and ensure platform investments are aligned with business priorities
- Drive operational excellence ,establish metrics, monitor platform health, and hold the team accountable to a high bar for reliability and incident response
- Represent the web platform's technical direction in cross-functional forums and influence decisions that affect how Ring's engineering teams build and ship

Basic Qualifications

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
