Job Summary:

Responsible for sorting all soiled linen in Laundry and properly segregating linen for proper wash classification and placement in production department. Able to dump soiled linen bags and hang rail bags as necessary. Ability to meet production standards. General knowledge of and ability to perform various duties assigned in Soil Sort area and other areas as required.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Sort soiled linen
* Place soiled linen items in respective soiled linen bins.
Dump/Empty soiled linen bags on conveyor
* Open and empty soiled linen bags on conveyor belt.
* Separate any rolled up linen.
* Ensure a steady stream of linens so sorters are not idle.
Hang rail bags
* Weigh manual soiled rail bags and place on correct rail on rail system.
* Ensure automatic rail bags do not get stuck and roll to the elevator.
* Ensure return bags from Tunnels do not jam up.
* Push with pole any bags stuck on rail system.
Operate cart wash
* Once soiled linen carts are emptied place in cart wash area, place one cart at a time in cart wash and start.
* Unload clean cart from cart washer and line up clean soiled linen carts on clean production side.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

- High School Diploma / GED General-Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Required Minimum Experience:

Health care Laundry experience Preferred

Required Minimum Skills:

Must be able to operate equipment, count, and understand instructions given by supervisory staff.
Able to communicate effectively.
