About this role

Texell Credit Union, named one of the best credit unions to work for in the nation by the Credit Union Journal, is seeking a Staff Accountant to work onsite at our Temple, TX headquarters. Must have a BA or BS in Accounting or Finance -or- at least four (4) years of accounting experience. And, if you are looking to become a CPA, Texell is willing to provide support for CPA exam prep materials and CPA work experience requirements.

As a Staff Accountant, you will:

- Review general ledger transactions and reconcile general ledger accounts.

- Prepare financial reports; ensure complete/accurate financial, statistical, and account records of the Credit Union.

- Assist with annual budget preparation and financial forecasting.

- Assist with accounts payable as needed.

- Work with examiners and auditors on year-end audits, internal audits, and periodic examinations.

- Assist in the development of accounting procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs.

- Assist in the development of accounting related policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory compliance and industry best practices.

- Participate on various project teams to implement operational improvements and new products and services.

- Work on other assigned tasks as needed.

We are looking for someone who:

- Has graduated with a BA, BS in Accounting or Finance -or- has at least four (4 ) years of accounting experience (required).

- Has a good understanding of FHLMC, FNMA and FHLB MFP rules and guidelines.

- Is proficient with Microsoft 365 products including Word and Excel.

- Has a great attitude and sees life with a "glass half full" outlook.

- Is a good communicator and enjoys collaborating with a team.

- Can adhere to the highest ethical standards and always exhibit professional conduct.
