This team is more than a group of engineers -- it's a group passionate about Apple products, services, and engineering culture. The team is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to focus on building the next generation of our production-facing ML platforms, and improving the reliability of existing ones using AIOps. Your work will power marquee worldwide Apple experiences such as Apple Intelligence, Search, Siri, and Private Cloud OS, while also helping build new ones.
We are a production-infrastructure-facing distributed-systems team designing, building, and growing Apple's Machine Learning platform, enabling many of Apple's signature apps and experiences. Our work impacts over a billion users and is essential to the success of Apple's growth in AIML. Our team is growing, and you will have the unique opportunity to help us shape our culture and processes. As part of this role, you will:
Collaborate to solve complex ML, AIOps, SRE and production-infrastructure problems with the opportunity to invent innovative solutions
Evolve the design and architecture to support the continued growth of our AI and LLM-powered Search platform
Develop the next generation of services that power Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud OS.
Partner with various teams across Apple to develop features and functionality to enable new experiences in the Apple ecosystem
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience building and running scalable services in public clouds
Senior-level engineering-management experience with Search, Voice-assistants, AIOps, ML, and cluster operations
Demonstrated track record in collecting high-level requirements, translating them into pragmatic solutions, and mobilizing cross-functional teams to achieve them
Experience developing and operating multi-cloud infrastructure worldwide with focus on ML-powered search and AIOps.
Proficient with various programming languages such as Java/Python/Go for automation or integration with multiple APIs.
Ability to continuously learn new skills and technologies
Solid communications skills, proven capability in working with cross-functional technical and business teams and varying levels of management in a professional manner.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of Search and Voice-assistant technologies, past, present, and future.
Proven track record in managing high-performance teams of expert engineers
Understanding of AIOps, especially for the global delivery of highly-reliable, highly-performant consumer-facing workloads.
Proven mastery of load-balancing, observability, microservice architectures, security & cryptography, performance and reliability
Experience in collecting data and optimizing services for different kinds of hardware
Strong design, communication and cross-functional management skills
