Offshore/Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior or above Marine/ Mechanical Engineer, you will be actively engaged in driving industry-leading research and development associated with machinery and systems for offshore applications.

What You Will Do:

You will lead and support Research and Development (R&D) initiatives focused on the evaluation, qualification, and advancement of emerging technologies for offshore and marine applications. Key responsibilities include assessing novel concepts, technologies, and system designs; conducting New Technology Qualification (NTQ) activities; and supporting Approval in Principle (AIP) assessments.

You will work closely with the Contracted Research and Development (CRAD) team to identify strategic research opportunities, develop grant applications and technical research proposals, and support the delivery of funded projects. The role will also provide technical expertise to internal teams and cross-functional initiatives, contribute to client and industry engagements, and represent the organization at technical conferences, seminars, workshops, and other relevant industry forums.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

- Five (5) to seven (7) years relevant engineering experience in the energy industry, shipyard, design/consulting company, shipping/oil company, university, or classification society.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in mechanical/ marine/ environmental engineering or other related discipline; M.S. is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge of offshore facilities, with emphasis on drilling and production platform design, operations, and mechanical equipment and systems – including process, compression, pipeline, riser, injection, and marine piping systems (fresh water, seawater, lubrication oil, fuel oil, compressed air, hydraulic, and cryogenic piping).
- Knowledge also includes offshore hydrogen and ammonia production systems, electrolyzers, water treatment, storage, venting, and safety systems.
- Knowledge of general mechanical systems
- Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in the marine industry including emerging engines, fuels, power generation.
- Strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent command of the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others .

Due to the scope of work, you'll need to be:

Working Conditions:

Work is primarily sedentary. Occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports, assigned, to an MPE, SMPE, Manager or Director.
