Description
The Saturday University Teacher is responsible for creating a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, positive behavior, and the social-emotional well-being of scholars participating in Saturday University programming.
This position is open to current Gestalt Community Schools employees only.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assume primary responsibility for maintaining a safe, structured, and productive learning environment throughout Saturday University programming.
- Establish and maintain high expectations for scholar behavior, academic engagement, and overall participation.
- Implement effective classroom management and restorative practices to address behavioral concerns and promote a positive school culture.
- Maintain an organized, attractive, and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Support scholars in completing missing assignments, projects, and other academic requirements.
- Maintain close proximity to scholars and circulate regularly to monitor engagement, provide support, and address needs proactively.
- Collaborate with scholars’ classroom teachers regarding academic progress, assignments, and areas requiring additional support through email and Schoology.
- Accurately document and maintain scholar information, including attendance, restorative interventions, academic work completed, and other relevant program data.
- Communicate professionally and consistently with parents/guardians to promote partnership, address concerns, and support scholar success.
- Provide appropriate academic and social-emotional support to scholars while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers, staff, scholars, and families to ensure the effectiveness of Saturday University programming.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of Saturday University initiatives and scholar interventions.

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Current Gestalt Community Schools employee in good standing.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in education or a related school-based setting.
- Experience supporting scholars in areas such as classroom management, restorative practices, school culture, academic intervention, or scholar support services preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage whole groups and small groups of scholars while maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to respond appropriately and proactively to challenges that may arise during programming.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and the ability to foster an inclusive environment that respects and values diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Schoology, Smart Board technology, and other relevant educational technology platforms.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work effectively with individuals and small groups of scholars.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a team and build positive working relationships.
- Professional appearance, demeanor, and conduct consistent with Gestalt Community Schools expectations.
- Ability to maintain consistent and appropriate attendance and punctuality for Saturday University programming and scholar interventions.
- Commitment to supporting the academic achievement, behavioral development, and social-emotional well-being of all scholars.
