​​ The  ​ Business Intelligence Specialist II ​  supports organizational decision-making by providing  timely ,  accurate , and actionable business intelligence. This role fulfills data requests, develops and  maintains  reports and dashboards, performs data analysis using SQL and reporting tools, and translates business questions into meaningful insights. Working closely with stakeholders across the organization, the analyst helps improve operational effectiveness, forecast business trends, and support strategic planning through data-driven recommendations.

How will you make an impact?

​​ Business Reporting & Analysis ​ :

- ​​ Develop,  maintain , and distribute recurring reports that provide insight into business performance, customer engagement, operational metrics, and program outcomes.

- ​ Analyze trends and summarize findings to support planning and decision-making.

- ​ Produce regular reports that support forecasting, resource planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.

- ​ Collaborate with business teams to refine metrics and ensure reporting aligns with evolving organizational priorities.

- ​ Partner with Product Management to analyze user behavior, feature adoption, operational performance, and business outcomes to support roadmap planning and prioritization

- ​ Support the development, refinement, and documentation of key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure product performance, customer engagement, operational effectiveness, and business outcomes.

- ​ Provide recommendations based on data analysis that help stakeholders evaluate opportunities,  identify  risks, and make informed business decisions. ​

​​ Data Querying & Validation ​ :

- ​​ Develop,  maintain , and  optimize  complex  SQL queries to extract, transform, and  validate  data from multiple enterprise systems and databases.

- ​ Perform quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reporting outputs.

- ​ Investigate data discrepancies, troubleshoot reporting issues, and collaborate with technology teams to resolve data-related concerns.

- ​ Create reusable query logic, data definitions, and documentation to support efficient and scalable reporting processes.

- ​ Assist in  maintaining  data governance standards and promoting the consistent use of business definitions and metrics across the organization.

​​ Dashboard Development & Maintenance ​ :

- ​​ Design, develop, and  maintain  interactive dashboards and visualizations that provide internal users with self-service access to key business metrics and operational insights.

- ​ Translate business requirements into effective visual solutions that improve understanding and support decision-making.

- ​ Monitor dashboard performance, ensure data accuracy, and continuously enhance user experience through feedback and evolving business needs.

- ​ Consult with internal and external  users  throughout  the dashboard development lifecycle to ensure visualizations are intuitive, actionable, and aligned with user expectations.

- ​ Support adoption of business intelligence tools by providing training, guidance, and documentation to end users.

- ​ Partner   with internal business teams, IT colleagues, and external users/customers to gather requirements, understand reporting needs, and translate business  objectives  into effective dashboard solutions.

Data Requests and Ad Hoc Analysis :

- Evaluate external data requests against CES and AAMC policies and governance standards to evaluate external data  request .

- Partner with Data Operations and Services to fulfil data requests as needed.

- Respond to requests for data, metrics, and analysis.

- Identify  appropriate data  sources, perform analyses, and communicate findings in a clear and actionable manner.

- Use Salesforce to document and respond to external requests for data.

- Maintain a tracking system for requests.

​​ Process Improvement & Documentation ​ :

- ​ ​ Document reporting processes, business rules, data definitions, and data sources to support consistency and knowledge sharing.

- ​ Maintain business definitions, data dictionaries, and reporting governance standards

- ​ Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting activities, improve data accessibility, and increase operational efficiency.

- ​ Participate in testing and validation activities related to reporting enhancements, system changes, and new data sources.

- ​  Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen analytical capabilities and data-informed decision-making across the organization.

What you will bring to the role:

Required Qualifications:

- ​ Bachelor’s degree in business  Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field. ​

- 2-4 years of related work experience

- Experience working with data, reporting tools, spreadsheets, databases, or analytics projects through internships, coursework, academic research, or professional experience.

Preferred   Qualifications:

- Experience developing dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools.

- Familiarity with SQL and data visualization  best  practices.

- Experience working in a mission-driven organization, higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit environment is a plus.

Remote Work Eligibility

This position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous US

Compensation Grade Range

$88,740.00-$104,400.00

Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors may include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.

If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions.  One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
