Head of Finance

Eisen manages regulated compliance operations for a rapidly growing roster of financial institutions, and our finance function needs to grow up with it. We're looking for our first Head of Finance: someone who owns the numbers end to end, from the monthly close through the board deck, and builds the financial infrastructure to take us from 50 customers to well past 100.

This is a builder-first role. What we need is the person who can run the function: owns the model and the forecast, closes the books on a real calendar, gets billing and revenue clean, and turns our numbers into something the leadership team and the board can act on. You will report directly to our CEO and start as a team of one, which means you're as comfortable reconciling an invoice as you are walking our CEO through what the numbers are saying.

This role is based in our New York City office.

Role Responsibilities

- Own the plan. Build and maintain the operating model: revenue, headcount, burn, runway. Reforecast against actuals and hold the company to the budget.
- Close the books. Take monthly close end to end, working with our outside accountant, and move it to a hard close date with a reporting package that follows.
- Build the reporting our leadership and board run on. Own the monthly financial package and the KPIs behind it, walk our CEO through it, and produce the materials that go to our board and investors.
- Own revenue and collections. Our client success team validates usage and sits closest to the customer. You own the discipline around that: correct revenue recognition, a collections cadence that gets invoices actually paid, and accountability for AR and DSO.
- Own spend and vendors. AP, vendor terms and renewals, spend controls, and a budgeting process that holds each function to plan. Negotiate our contracts.
- Manage cash and treasury. Maintain a 13 week cash forecast. Own banking relationships, yield and counterparty decisions, insurance, and contract review.
- Own tax and compliance. Run the tax calendar across federal, state, and sales tax nexus, coordinating with our accountant. Build the financial controls that enterprise bank and credit union customers diligence us on.
- Build for scale. Put in the systems and processes that hold as we double our customer base, without adding a finance team to hold them together.

About You

- You started in investment banking or a similar analytical seat, then moved into an operating finance role at a venture-backed technology company. Roughly 6 to 10 years total.
- You have owned revenue recognition for a usage-based or hybrid billing model, and you know where it goes wrong.
- You have built and owned a full operating model, not just maintained one someone else built.
- You have run or closely managed a monthly close, including with an outsourced accountant, and you know what a clean one looks like.
- You have built the financial package that goes to a board.
- You are hands-on by preference. You do the unglamorous work yourself and you don't need an analyst underneath you to produce anything.
- You are a clear communicator who can explain the numbers to people who don't live in them, and who is proactive about flagging what the numbers are saying.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, high-stakes, regulated environment.
- NYC based.

- Financial services, fintech, or regulated-industry experience
- Experience running a billing system or revenue cleanup
- FP&A depth at a company scaling through Series A and beyond
- Early-stage startup experience building a finance function from the ground up
