Advanced Process Manufacturing Engineer

## Position Summary

The Advanced Process Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting chemical manufacturing operations through process optimization, process design enhancements, equipment performance improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role partners closely with Operations, Research & Development, Quality, Maintenance, Environmental Health & Safety, and Engineering teams to ensure manufacturing processes achieve performance, stability, safety, quality, and cost targets. Creates Standard work documentation for the site. The Advanced Process Engineer evaluates process and equipment design changes, supports scale-up and commercialization of new products, and drives operational excellence through data-driven process improvements. The position serves as a key technical resource for startup activities and ongoing manufacturing support, ensuring new and existing processes operate safely and efficiently while meeting business objectives.

This position will require domestic travel 5-10% of the time
 
## What You'll do as an Advanced Process Manufacturing Engineer

- Identifies, develops, and implements process optimization projects that improve manufacturing throughput, yield, cycle time, product quality, energy efficiency, and operating costs.
- Evaluates and supports process design changes, equipment upgrades, debottlenecking initiatives, and process modifications to enhance manufacturing performance and reliability.
- Collaborates with Research & Development to support scale-up, pilot trials, technology transfer, and commercialization of new products and manufacturing processes.
- Analyzes process performance data, operating trends, and key process indicators to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Supports startup, commissioning, validation, and performance qualification activities for new equipment, process installations, and manufacturing improvements.
- Leads process troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities for process upsets, quality issues, equipment constraints, and production losses.
- Participates in Process Safety Management (PSM), Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and risk mitigation activities to ensure safe operations.
- Works with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to establish operating strategies and improve process consistency and equipment utilization.
- Develops and maintains process engineering documentation including process flow diagrams, operating procedures, process specifications, and engineering calculations.
- Provides technical support and training to manufacturing personnel regarding process operation, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies.

## The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed:

Required

- Degree in Chemical Engineering and 8+ years of progressive experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, process development, production support, or related engineering functions.
- Chemical manufacturing process engineering - 8+ years of expeirence
- Process optimization and continuous improvement - 3+ years of expeirence
- Process troubleshooting and root cause analysis - 3+ years of expeirence
- Manufacturing equipment and process improvement projects - 3+ years of expeirence
- Technology transfer and process scale-up support - 2+ years of expeirence
- Startup, commissioning, or qualification activities - 2+ years of expeirence
- Process safety and risk assessment participation - 2+ years of expeirence

Preferred

- Specialty chemical, polymer, coatings, adhesives, or industrial chemical manufacturing - 2+ years of experience
- Statistical analysis and process monitoring tools -  2+ years of expeirence
- Process simulation software experience - 1+ years of experience
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence methodologies - 1+ years of experience
- Research & Development commercialization support -  2+ years of experience
- Chemical process analysis and optimization - 3+ years
- Manufacturing data analysis and performance monitoring - 3+ years
- Project management and cross-functional collaboration - 2+ years
- Technical problem-solving and communication skills - 2+ years

Pay range for this opportunity is $107,525.00 - $139,150.00.   This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed.  Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
