Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Non-Working Shop Foreman to lead and support a high-performing automotive service department in the Middle Tennessee Area
The ideal candidate will be a Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician (MDT) with extensive Toyota technical knowledge, exceptional leadership abilities, and a proven track record of developing technicians and improving overall shop performance.
This is a non-working Shop Foreman position. The primary focus of this role is leadership, technician development, workflow management, quality control, and advanced technical support. The Shop Foreman will not carry a regular repair workload or be responsible for flagging production hours .
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Toyota technician who is ready to utilize their technical expertise in a full-time leadership capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily leadership, direction, and technical support to the technician team.
- Oversee shop workflow and assist in ensuring work is distributed effectively and efficiently.
- Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, performance, and repair quality.
- Provide advanced technical guidance and support on difficult or complex diagnostic concerns.
- Ensure repairs and diagnostic procedures meet Toyota and dealership quality standards.
- Coach, mentor, and develop technicians at various skill and experience levels.
- Identify technician training and professional development opportunities.
- Partner closely with Service Advisors and Service Management to maintain an efficient flow of vehicles through the service department.
- Help reduce comebacks and repeat repairs by maintaining strong quality-control standards.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and professional standards throughout the shop.
- Assist management with identifying opportunities to improve overall shop productivity and efficiency.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and productive service environment.
- Serve as a trusted technical and leadership resource for the entire service team.
Required Qualifications
- Must be Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician (MDT) certified.
- Extensive Toyota technical, repair, and diagnostic experience.
- Strong advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong understanding of dealership service operations and shop workflow.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively mentor and develop technicians at varying skill levels.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced automotive service environment.
- Commitment to repair quality, customer satisfaction, and technician development.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Experience
- Previous Shop Foreman, Team Leader, Lead Technician, or similar service department leadership experience .
- Previous Toyota dealership experience.
- Experience managing technician workflow, productivity, and efficiency.
- Demonstrated success in technician coaching, mentoring, training, and development.
- Proven track record of maintaining high repair-quality standards and reducing comebacks.
- Experience working closely with service management to improve overall department performance.
