Our services cover food pantry, reentry, thrift stores, home visits and a helpline to support the basic human need to stay afloat and avoid homelessness, in addition to Thanksgiving boxes, Christmas Toy Drive, and feeding Americas Heroes.

Program Overview

Bridge Forward is St. Vincent de Paul Southwest Idaho's recovery support program, serving justice-involved individuals across Districts 3 and 4 as they transition out of incarceration and into recovery. The program is funded through the State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant and the SUPTRS Block Grant, administered by Idaho's Division of Behavioral Health, and provides pre-release engagement and post-release recovery coaching in partnership with Idaho Department of Correction facilities.

Position Summary

The Recovery Coach works directly with justice-involved individuals before and after release, providing peer support, recovery coaching, and connection to community resources. This position plays a central role in helping participants build stable, sober lives following incarceration, and requires strict adherence to state and grant compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Recovery Coach engages participants during the pre-release window and continues coaching support following release, in accordance with program timelines. The coach documents all participant interactions through service notes and maintains accurate, timely data entry in program tracking systems. The role also includes helping participants connect with housing, employment, treatment, and other community resources, participating in required training and supervision, and maintaining compliance with all program policies, confidentiality standards, and grant reporting requirements.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must hold, at minimum, a provisional Peer Recovery Coach certification through the Idaho Board of Alcohol/Drug Counselor Certification (IBADCC), or be actively working toward full certification. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of confirmed personal sobriety. Basic computer skills are required, including the ability to enter accurate service notes and program data into tracking systems. All candidates must be able to pass a background check that meets Idaho Department of Health and Welfare standards under IDAPA 16.05.06, and where applicable, obtain any required peer worker waiver under Idaho Code § 39-305C. Because this position requires regular travel between Districts 3 and 4 and may involve transporting participants, candidates must have a reliable personal vehicle and maintain full-coverage auto insurance.
