Pharmacy Business Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pharmacy Business Support Specialist to join our Pharmacy team. In this role, you will provide operational, financial, regulatory, inventory, and administrative support that helps pharmacy services function efficiently across the health system.

This position serves as a key resource for pharmacy leadership, staff, wholesalers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Depending on assigned specialty areas, you may support purchasing and inventory management, 340B operations, regulatory compliance, controlled substance monitoring, clinical quality reporting, pharmacy analytics, or operational improvement initiatives.

What You'll Do

- Support pharmacy business operations, regulatory activities, inventory management, purchasing, and quality initiatives

- Coordinate purchasing, receiving, and inventory support for assigned Deaconess Health System pharmacy locations

- Serve as a liaison with pharmaceutical wholesalers, suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure efficient service and cost management

- Monitor pharmaceutical recalls, drug shortages, and supply chain disruptions and communicate updates to stakeholders

- Process invoices, purchase orders, and other financial transactions while investigating and resolving discrepancies

- Maintain office databases, spreadsheets, reports, and operational records

- Assist with controlled substance monitoring, documentation, storage, and compliance activities

- Support 340B program operations, audits, reporting, and compliance initiatives

- Analyze operational, financial, and quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement

- Coordinate clinical quality reporting, data abstraction, chart reviews, and performance monitoring activities

- Prepare reports, dashboards, charts, and presentations for pharmacy leadership and committees

- Participate in regulatory audits, inspections, and compliance reviews

- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements

- Provide guidance and support to pharmacy staff regarding regulatory requirements and operational procedures

- Assist with training and education activities related to pharmacy operations and compliance

- Support departmental projects, process improvement initiatives, and strategic objectives

- Assist with pharmacy technician functions as needed to support medication distribution activities

What We're Looking For

- College degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related field preferred or

- Pharmacy Technician licensure with a minimum of three years of experience in a healthcare, pharmacy, purchasing, business, or related environment

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Experience managing multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously

- Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentations

- Strong communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately

- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities

- Experience working with Microsoft Excel, databases, and reporting systems

- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with pharmacy purchasing, inventory management, 340B, regulatory compliance, or quality improvement programs

- Experience in healthcare finance, pharmacy operations, or healthcare administration

- Knowledge of controlled substance regulations, pharmacy compliance requirements, and healthcare regulatory standards

- Project management experience

- Experience working with data analysis, audits, and operational reporting

Required Licensure

- Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician in Training in the applicable state(s) of practice

- Must obtain required state registration within established timelines if hired pending licensure

- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation required within one year of employment unless exempted by management discretion
