The Pharmacy Technician III assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and are accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician III follows applicable standards and federal, state & local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Pharmacy Tech I to support our pharmacy operations during part-time evening shifts . In this entry-level role, you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist with medication preparation, dispensing, inventory management, and customer service activities. This position plays an important role in supporting patient safety, medication accuracy, and efficient pharmacy operations.
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Tech I assists pharmacists in preparing, packaging, and distributing medications while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The technician performs routine pharmacy functions and supports daily pharmacy operations under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience
- Previous pharmacy experience preferred but not required.
Licensure
- Active registration and good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician required, or willingness to submit application for registration by the first day of employment.
- Must complete fingerprinting and FBI background check requirements as applicable.
Certification
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred.
- Certification may be required within a specified timeframe in accordance with department and state requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication dispensing processes.
- Ability to accurately count, package, label, and prepare medications for pharmacist verification.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Ability to learn pharmacy software and automated dispensing systems.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic health records and pharmacy information systems preferred.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow instructions.
- Willingness to learn and develop pharmacy-related knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacists, providers, patients, and coworkers.
Essential Responsibilities
Medication Preparation & Dispensing
- Enter and maintain accurate information in EPIC and other pharmacy systems.
- Retrieve, count, package, and prepare medications for pharmacist verification.
- Fill medication orders and prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
- Assist pharmacists with medication distribution processes.
- Ensure medications are prepared and dispensed in accordance with pharmacy standards and regulations.
Inventory & Medication Management
- Receive, stock, and organize medication inventory.
- Assist with ordering medications and pharmacy supplies as directed.
- Retrieve and process unused medications from patient care areas and pharmacy locations when appropriate.
- Monitor assigned areas for expired or outdated medications.
- Follow established medication storage and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
Patient & Customer Service
- Deliver medications to patient care areas and other approved locations as required.
- Prepare medications for delivery or shipment.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to patients, providers, and coworkers.
- Answer routine pharmacy questions and direct clinical inquiries to a pharmacist.
Quality & Operational Excellence
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy work areas and equipment.
- Follow department procedures and safety standards.
- Assist with quality assurance activities and inventory audits as assigned.
- Attend department meetings, huddles, and training sessions.
- Utilize sound judgment to prioritize workflow and department needs.
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy team members to maintain efficient operations.
- Assist with onboarding activities and peer support as directed.
- Seek guidance from pharmacists and senior technicians when needed.
Orientation, Training, and Development
- Complete department orientation and technician training programs.
- Successfully complete all hospital-required and department-specific education and competency requirements.
- Complete EPIC training and all assigned pharmacy competencies.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development activities.
