QC Technician

The QC Technician works alongside the Complex Hatchery Manager to ensure poult quality in the service room under strict animal welfare and biosecurity standards. Key duties include evaluating poult health and vigor, administering vaccines and treatments, completing documentation, and maintaining cross-training for department readiness and shift coverage.

The QC Technician reports to the Complex Hatchery Manager with the following responsibilities:
- Assess egg and live poult quality and vigor daily in the service room to maintain and improve overall flock standards.
- Accurately prepare and administer vaccines and treatments according to established hatchery protocols.
- Conduct hatch residue breakouts occasionally and report results and findings.
- Complete required service room order verification sheets, ABF/NAE checklists, and animal welfare paperwork.
- Follow and enforce all company biosecurity, safety, and animal welfare regulations across daily service room operations.
- Assist with animal welfare and ABF training, and compliance, and any audits that the hatchery may have to undergo.
- Prepare and monitor inventory stock of testing supplies needed for the various programs.
- Track DOAs and conduct necropsies on DOA as needed.
- Partner with veterinarians, technical staff, and leadership on health initiatives, while maintaining stock of needed service room vaccination, testing, and QA supplies.
- Work in collaboration with the Egg Department in performing egg audits according to company standards as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Hatchery Manager to support service room quality and operational needs.

During planned or unplanned absences of hatchery leadership, provide operational shift coverage by:
- Verifying poult box labeling (ABF/NAE/ORG), order tagging, box stacking, and maintaining room environmental conditions.
- Calculating daily flock cull percentages, reconciling Hen/Tom order totals, and completing production logs.
- Maintaining real-time communication with leadership regarding order totals, culls, and fulfillment shortages.
