DESCRIPTION:
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting, advising, and enrolling prospective students while providing a high level of personalized service throughout the college search and application process. The Admissions Counselor serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students, families, school counselors, and community partners and represents the college at recruitment events, high schools, college fairs, and other outreach activities.
The position supports institutional enrollment goals through strategic recruitment, relationship management, timely follow-up, and effective communication with prospective and admitted students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors required
Master's Degree preferred in Student Personnel Services, Education, Occupational/Career Education or related field.
1+ years of experience in higher education or sales, with an emphasis on providing high-quality customer service.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information/CRM systems.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as required for assigned recruitment responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Recruit prospective students through individual outreach, high school visits, college fairs, community events, information sessions, open houses, and other recruitment activities.
Communicate regularly with prospective and admitted students through phone calls, email, text messaging, virtual meetings, and in-person.
Follow up with prospective and admitted students to encourage application completion, enrollment, and attendance.
Assist students in navigating the admissions process from initial inquiry through enrollment.
Review applications and supporting documents for completeness and eligibility in accordance with institutional policies.
Evaluate academic transcripts and other application materials as assigned.
Communicate admission decisions and next steps to prospective students.
Maintain accurate and timely records in the college's student information and customer relationship management systems.
Participate in enrollment management meetings and contribute to strategies designed to improve recruitment, conversion, and enrollment outcomes.
Collaborate with Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, Student Success, Marketing, and other campus departments to provide prospective students with comprehensive and consistent information.
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Experience with running various platforms and applications to obtain data that drives daily activity to meet college enrollment goals.
Ability to read and understand transcripts and have a general understanding of how to use Excel to calculate a grade point average (GPA). Arithmetic and basic algebra skills are required.
Ability to think critically and problem solve with student success at top of mind.
Self-motivated, self-starter, data-driven, and goal-oriented, with ability to multi-task.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment in close proximity to other employees
Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
Minimal physical effort is required. The employee must be able to operate personal computer and related equipment.
Travel may be required for making public presentations and for attendance at regional or central meetings and conferences. Employee must be able to drive a private passenger automobile or to arrange for alternative transportation. Reasonable accommodation will be provided for employees with physical limitations.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel.
